This is one of the few movies that should be vastly improved with a remake because the original was a TV movie that didn't do the book justice, outside of Tim Curry's performance.

Cary Fukanaga (True Detective) will be directing it.

Youngster Will Poulter will be Pennywise.

Stephen King has already seen it and he was happy with it.

Stephen King Has Seen the New IT Movie, What Does He Think?

"Steve asked me to pass along that he saw a screening of IT today and he wanted to let everybody know that they should stop worrying about it as the producers have done a wonderful job with the production."

Trailer looks really good

There was just 1 book, and I don't think it was broken up. The story jumped back and forth like the TV movie. I haven't read the book in a LONG time, so maybe I am mistaken?

You're right, I was thinking of the miniseries they did in the 90s

It (miniseries) - Wikipedia

The original was a mini-series, it aired on 2 seperate days.

The Book is 1150 pages, it's fucking huge, putting all of that material into one 3 hour film would be a huge injustice to Stephen King.

Thye first It movie gave me nightmares as a kid, I'll definitely be all over a new version with the modern film techniques and no Johnboy Walton.

But it also had judge Harry Stone, Venus Flytrap and Lana Lang.

My "concern" is not that it is getting broken into two movies. My "concern" is how they are breaking it up. By the time we "meet" the adults, we will already know how they defeated PW as kids, and the cost they had to pay to do it. In the books, that isn't disclosed until the very end.

From what I've read, it looks like they're doing it the way that you don't want.

Interesting. The book was great. The mini-series was ok. Hopefully they don't fuck up the movie like so many of King's books have been butchered in theaters in the past.

I used to be a rabid Stephen King reader when I was young. I don't think I've picked up one of his books in 20 years until recently. I was a big fan of The Shining. arguably one of his classics so I was excited when I saw one of his recent books called Dr. Sleep. After reading the jacket where is was touted to be the sequel to The Shining I knew I had to read it. If you were a fan of The Shining, pick up Dr. Sleep. A fantastic read that will take you back to Mr. King's earlier triumphs.

The new It looks great! I will watch.

Didn't think they should have remade it (Hollywood is getting super lazy) but the trailer does look good.
