Looks like I need to review and update the POTY, I'm sure Gordon was listed by some people...

Edit: I just did a quick scan and at least three people (Automattic, kenyg, and DaBoltsnIsles) had Gordon as first coach axed.

Is Tom Renney safe for this season in Edmonton? I'd say yes, although something has to be done to stop all these lop-sided losses.

/My Flames aren't faring much better, but at least they've been competitive...

This really isn't a surprise. When the team goes 0-9-1 somebody has to take the fall. It wasn't going to be the owner who deserves most of the blame. It wasn't going to be Garth Snow who is simply doing what he has to do in terms of the amount of money he can spend on players. Gordon was the scapegoat for a team that simply doesn't have the talent to compete in the NHL on a nightly basis.

My biggest concern is the Islanders don't really have much of a veteran presence on the team to help the young guys along. That was something Bill Torrey was able to acquire for a young team. Snow hasn't been able to do that. The bottom line is it comes down to money. The Islanders are above the cap floor because of bonus clauses. Not even guaranteed money. Until Wang gets the arena situation sorted out I doubt he's going to add to the payroll.

I really think that once Streit and Okposo get back that the team will improve at least as far as competitiveness. I watched a few of their games this season, and they never really give up, even when they are down by several goals. This isn't to say that their record will really improve much, but I could definitely see the scores getting closer and offensive production improving.

The effort was & is always their. Gordon NEVER lost the team. They just don't have enough talent. Goal scoring is their biggest issue right now. There number 5 on 5 are PATHETIC.

Campbell is a former Rangers employee. The only way he would suspend a Rangers player is if he had absolutely no choice. Avery will always be safe as long as he plays for the NYR.
