I always think of the great names from the past associated with the Islanders. Al Arbour, Bryan Trottier, Mike Bossy, Bob Nystrom, Denis Potvin and many more. That was a great run they had in the eighties.

boss I went to my very first LIVE Canucks game in 81 vs the Isles and saw all of the above we got smoked 5-1 and I loved every second of it thats when I saw Billy Smith.. and knew I was a goalie at heart forever. jesus I can still smell the old Pacific Coliseum from that day, I can feel the crisp cold and will always remember seeing the players live for a first time. I was 11. god damn that was awesome

I remember a excerpt from Dave Schultz's book after he had been traded from the Flyers to the Kings and he played and roomed with Butch Goring. The Kings were on the road and somebody had broken into Schultzie's and Butchie's hotel room. I guess the thief stole all of Schultzie's clothes but took one look at Goring's and decided to leave them be (lol).
