Agreed Stealth, even if the Capitals had won the series against the Pens, there's no way they would've beaten the Lightning the following round. Capitals are not a team designed for the playoffs, and a big reason for that is Ovechkin's mega HUGE contract.

I agree, if I wanted to have a career as a NHL coach, no way would I coach the Capitals. OV is a proven coach killer.

you cant move Ovie on so you go after a goaltender...that's really the only on ice problem I can see for the Caps

I would just buyout his contract. No way they could build a complete team until 2023 with OV's contract.

technically yes but he is a big part of the offense a new goaltender could be cheaper...but do they want to go DC

As long as OV's contract is on the books, there's nothing they could do to build that team beyond where it is now. Also, goaltending isn't their problem right now.

They won't get to the next step no matter who their goalie is. That has been proven throughout OV's career with the Caps.

Did you watch their series with the Pens? The only reason they won games 1 & 5 is because of Holtby & the refs. Caps are hopeless until 2023 IMO.

That's how they got Holtby also. They have similar stories, except Holtby has gotten further in the playoffs. Odds of them finding another goalie like that anytime soon is highly unlikely.

You like Holtby okay fine....He is not going to get them to the Finals.....either is Hank even though Hank has been there. Neither of those 2 will win cups
