most yard before contact in the nfl with that o line. how is gurley elevating that
Todd has an extraordinary speed score metric. So like I said earlier, he can get to the hole before defenders close, so when he runs past defensive players, he himself increases the yards before contact, his vision and McVays scheme, along with the OL all play huge roles, but I've mentioned this already Pride.

Actually he would get to contact sooner.

im with u to an extent. trust me. BUt some of the next gen stats are undeniable. And some of the backs up with 3.4 ypc average on their careers that are now dominating back up the next gen stats

Rams would be stupid NOT to build a system around maximizing Gurleys amazing talent. It just so happens that the other backs get to benefit from that system as well.

Just like bad teams that don’t have the players to build a system around (the Browns before Mayfield and Chubb?) just seem to be completely clueless to what they are doing.

Kansas City is changing their system to accommodate Mahomes and previously Hunt. Just so happens that without Hunt they are running just fine because they went out and got other guys that would also benefit from that system.

The Patriots built a system around Brady.

The Seahawks built a system around Wilson...

On and on and on..

No. He’s benefiting from an excellent line right now, but he’d be the best RB on any roster IMO.

well davis is banged up. kelly was PS so perhaps his pass blocking? something that CJ does very well. And that fact that they picked a guy off the street 3-4 days before a game, start him, and he goes off actually does not bode well for your point.
LOL, my point doesn't bode well? You said ANYONE, remember Steelers? To stress your point you even put it in CAPS.
I pointed to two anyones already on the roster, and you had excuses for both.

actually no, they just didnt get a chance. Its acutally a better point to show that a guy off the street, cut twice this year can step in for 160

Vs an injury riddled, rookie laden, 3-11 team. CJ was awesome, he did well and was fed because of it, but no value on passing downs.

agreed, but they still plucked a guy off the street, playing against and NFL team, and put up 160+

they are at times, bears only put 122 rushing on them. Not meant as a dig. I think b/w cohen and howard its a good thunder/lightning combo, more highlighting its still and NFL team, and that a guy off the street ran for 160. The first time the rams played the rams they totalled 90 yards rushing, malcom brown leading rusher with 46 yards. gurley had 19 touches for 42 yards-3 catches 31 receiving

Agree here. One game (vs. the worst run D in the league) doesn't mean the guy is replaceable or a system guy. This team has been shredded by running backs this year, Coleman, the Skins backs, the Chargers backs, Murray, Mike Davis, the Oakland backs. And for the most part in previous years Malcolm Brown and Tre Mason didn't look good in his place.

Gurley basically played a half of football the first time and the end zone was about the biggest thing that stopped him (3 times).

It reminds me of 2001 when Trung Candidate came in and put up almost 200 yards against a bad Jets D when Marshall Faulk was out. Was a great game there, but didn't mean Faulk was just a system guy.

He can't run sideways and he can't run backwards. Is Todd Gurley a System Player? Yup. If can't run within 80 degrees either side of straight ahead he's totally fucked.

But that first time, Gurley was stopped by the end zone 5 times (3 TD's and 2 for 2 on 2pt conversions). Not really a game I'd brag about when the guy puts up 22 points on the ground in less than 3 quarters of play. He didn't break a big one, but that happens.

The Bears was probably their best game as a run D. bottled up Howard, only gave up one rushing TD, and sure Cohen averaged 10 yards a carry on his 5 carries but overall pretty solid. Probably their premier game and vs. a Bears team that is 28th in YPC where you'd expect it to be.
