Contract year, Improved Oline, New offensive coach, good WR group including new TE and 2 RBs that can catch. If he does not get it done now I can't see us resigning him to a big contract that he will be looking for. Next years draft is a QB draft too. Because it's a contract year he has to show big improvement to be here next year.

16 views and not one response? I take it we all must be thinking the same way.

No excuses left for Cutler. He won't get anymore excuses from me defending him either. Having said that, I don't think he'll fail as long as this new O-Line protects him and gives him some time.

:suds:I think Jay has his best year as a Bear. Provided he stays healthy. I do think it'll take awhile for the whole O to get on the same page. As of now don't have clue what O-line will look like. I believe he will be our QB for a long time. Well at least 1 more contract. What they pay him, will probably be determined by a playoff appearance if he gets us there, & how deep he takes us. Even if we don't reach the playoffs , I think he will be back if he plays well.
It goes without saying his excuses are dwindling. He still has the another new system 1.

I like Jay.

I think he will do fine. O-line needs to protect, other WRs need to step up and make some plays, give him faith to throw it to someone other than Marshall. Matt Forte needs to be more involved, both running and thru the air.

I have faith in him still.

I like Jay myself but Emory is all business, There is a bang for the buck question, it will take a huge contract to resign Cutler. I'm just saying he needs to take a step forward to be brought back at big bucks.

Jay's a pretty smart guy , I don't think he'll demand big bucks if his performance doesn't warrant it. Though I think he's earned every penny he's gotten so far. Working with what he's had to work with. Even if he wins a SB. I doubt he demands top dollar. Guys who've gotten top dollar produced for more than 1 yr.

if jay cutler wants to get paid he will need a good relationship with trestman and improve his in game choices.
personally i think the past couple years he has had happy feet from getting hit so much.
alot like kurt warner had his last year in stl and his time with the giants.
qbs dont like getting crushed every other play.
i think if the oline does better jay does better bears do better.

Barring injury, I don't see how Cutler is not back next year. Whether he signs an extension or he gets the franchise tag.

Why does it have my 2nd and 3rd favorite football teams listed above the top spot? And the only reason I listed them was because it wouldn't let me register without picking a 2nd/3rd slot.

You can edit your profile. And this isn't the Raiders board.

I have always been a Bears fan but I did watch the Raiders in the 70s for the 4PM game. They were fun to watch back then.

Cutler has some skills, but I wouldn't want him to be my QB. Almost like Dwight Howard, except not as dominate at his position.

This coming from a fan who hasn't had to know what it's like not having even a competent QB for the past 14 years. Jay has his flaws, but he's by far the best QB the Bears have had in a very long time. I don't think it would be smart to just throw that away and assume the Bears will bring in another competent QB. Bears fans should know more than most that it's just not that easy.

In a perfect world I'd like the Bears to take one of the top QB's in next years draft. Franchise Jay and then decide what to do in 2015. Just sayin' I'd like to have a good QB replacement on the roster before showing Jay the door if it comes to that.

Having said all of that. Here's to hoping Jay and Trestman exceed our expectations this year and we don't have to worry about the QB position for a few years.

We gave to much up under D'Aneglo watch to get him.

But who knows what Emery has in mind for the future look.

After all he did not want Urlacher back for his last year at a bargain of 2.5 million. That was what Brian wanted.
