15-0

There are a few teams that I have watched over the years where I thought, "now there might be the greatest team ever". I think this LSU team is a team like that.

The number of ranked teams they beat is tremendous.

I gotta go:

1. 2019 LSU
2. 1995 Nebraska

I'm probably off on all of that.

Maybe the best offensive machine of all time.

Well, there was a team that went 14-0-1.

Beat Iowa 75-0
Beat Iowa St 46-0
Beat Wisc 17-0
Beat Illinois 32-0
Beat Macalaster 112-0.

13 shutouts on the season. 1 of the 2 teams to score on them, Michigan, couldn't beat them, the Natl Champions couldn't outscore UMn.

UMn won 14 games and tied undefeated national champs Michigan. 6-6.

Best team. No.

Best offense, I think they are in the running without a doubt.

Who the fuck is Macalaster? A high school prep team?

Different time, + playoff allows for more wins and more ranked wins.

2 things are for certain though....

1. LSU had 3 games with a MOV of one score.
2. 1995 Nebraska didn't. Beat every single opponent put in front of them by at least 2 TDs.

@outofyourmind 's idea just got blown up

Texas sucks

I love Nebraska and hate LSU but the truth is this year's LSU team would beat the living crap out of the 1995 Huskers team. Not even close after about the middle of the 3rd quarter.

Best team ever has a lot to do with dominance as well imo. That Oklahoma game was pretty crazy, they did dominate Clemson but throughout the year their offense was dominant but the entire team and score wise, it wasn't.

For example the 1995 Nebraska team never gave up more than 28 points. They had two shutouts. Averaged 53 ppg and gave up 14 ppg.

LSU no shutouts. Averaged 48 ppg, gave up 22 ppg. That doesn't say everything but just some little notes.

That LSU was very dominant but Nebraska had only one game decided by 14 points. Their next closest win was by 23 and 24 points. They scored 50+ 6 times and gave up 10 or less 5 times.

about 5 teams in 2019 would have beat the puss out of 2001 Miami. Just the nature of things. Players are bigger, stronger, and faster today. That said I don’t think LSU is the best ever in relative terms

The 2001 Miami team was even more dominant imo.

43 ppg - offense
9 ppg - defense

Gave up less than 10 points or less 8 out of their 12 games. 3 shutouts.
Had one close game vs Va Tech 26-24 but otherwise dominated teams, mainly defensively.

yeah just how the game has changed. This isn't to compare teams to each other but how they dominated teams of their era. Miami and Nebraska dominated their opponents more than LSU did imo just in a different way

When I look at 2019 LSU. I see a dominant passing attack. Outside of that they were not dominant in the other phases. Wasn’t a great rushing attack (6th in SEC in yards per attempt). Defense was above average, but certainly not dominant (7th in yards per/play in the SEC).

Well, they got whooped 112-0 so it really doesn't matter who they were, does it? They also outscored Wisconsin and Iowa and Illinois 128-0, so....

They shouldn't be mentioned, anything before the 1920's isn't comparable

"Dominant" is a relative term. Oklahoma was the most "dominant" team in college football history in the 1950's during a 47 game winning stream with a high scoring offense and a defense that pitched umpteen shutouts. But they would get killed playing in today's game. Killed. As to "dominance", I'd give that honor to the 1995 Huskers who overwhelmed every other team that year. I just don't think that Nebraska team could beat an elite 2019 team like LSU.

In your opinion. If not for those teams, UMn specifically, they invented the 4 man backfield, cheerleading, proposed the forward pass and utilized it before most others did.

And I was originally pimping the 1934 team, so you saying anything before the 1920s isn't even relevant, well, I disagree but can understand your concern.
