Oh so this is why the Bengals haven't won a playoff game since 1990.

I think of Tim Donaghy. If it can happen in the NBA, it can happen in the NFL.

I'm not reading that shit but I understand the premise is the NFL is rigged on behalf of the gambling industry?

What load of horseshit. I case the OP or anyone else doesn't know:

THE HOUSE ALWAYS WINS! IT DOESN'T MATTER WHICH TEAM WINS THE GAME!

The betting is structured so that as long as an even (or close to it) number of people bet on both teams the house will make money regardless of the outcome. That's why point spreads fluctuate. If too many people are betting on one team they'll adjust the spread to get people to bet the other way. They keep the losing bets and they keep a percentage of the winning bets. THEY ALWAYS WIN.

Rigging games is completely pointless and unnecessary for the gambling industry to profit off sports.

2008 pitt Steelers had the game won either way but they bothered to take back a score that didn't matter after practically leaving the field, when film showed blatantly there was no forward lateral.
they still rule there was a forward lateral and maintain the spread. That's not fishy or obvious to you ?

there is no conspiracy.

the league is legally allowed to manipulate games anyway they want because they are recognized as an entertainment business by the courts/government.

I'm not saying refs don't screw up or make blatantly wrong calls.

I'm just saying there's absolutely no motive whatsoever for the gambling industry to manipulate the outcome of games. Anyone who thinks they do has no clue how casinos operate. There's no need to cheat when math is already on your side.

The government has granted the NFL an anti-trust exemption. If they found out they were manipulating games there would be a huge backlash from Uncle Sam.

Thanks for the read Jackson....interesting to say the least, an open mind is required.

wonder when jerry gets his just dues :pound:

the Cowboys were obviously huge in the 70s and were winners up through 85 maintaining their mystique and profit. They obviously were the most popular team. They get rid of Landry which angers the fan base. No less than 3 years later under new ownership they are winners again and have another 7 year dynasty. The 3 amigos retire and everyone (owners) are fat n happy. They haven't won since 98 but to appease Jerry they get a new stadium and host a SB.

Ravens,Rams, Titans- all three teams get to or win a SB 3 years after moving. Maybe a tad too much of a coincidence.

they have already been to court about it. The government already knows. You need to read the article.

spy-gate= they burned tapes. That's supposed to be punishable by fines or jail time for destroying evidence. But because its an entertainment business theres no problem.
one politician did bring it up but of course that was just for media attention or votes because nothing came of it.

Patriots owner Kraft and Giants owner Mara are the 2 most powerful men in the league, let alone the country.
Wes Welker said he was happy to be in Denver because you aren't allowed to hardly talk in NE.
LOL why do you think Belichick is so tight lipped ? he is right next to the nerve center of funny biz going on in the league and he knows it.
its one thing for teams to be good with ups n Downs for a 10 year period. But the Patriots have been great for 14 years plus the SB with Parcells. I'm sorry but that's overkill no matter how you slice it.
Every year its the same rhetoric ,Brady is that good, Belichick turns no-names into great teams....14 years in a row ? they go 11-5 one year without Brady and yet don't make the playoffs LOL I don't know what to make of that but its weird in itself. Or its because they can say that's how great Bill is and 'see he doesn't need to cheat'

theres another theory in the article about host cities of SBs and local teams not doing well that year. The SB was in NY and the Giants and Jets had crappy seasons.

now of course youll say "the Jets suck anyway, of course that happened"

yes but remember the Jets made it to two conference championships with Sanchez. Looking back that's not odd to you after all the QB debates and how much he sucks LOL I'm sorry but no defense can pick up that much slack in football unless you get calls your way a lot.

This is why you have to watch refs closely and make sure there not any way involved in any gambling... But to say there involved as much as this post say's is ridiculous... There not... Teams decide the outcome almost always... But refs to blow call's and it has nothing to do with Vegas but just the human side of blowing a call... But we would be blind to think corruption can't happen... It can, so it always has to be watched closely...

yes, players are allowed to play, they are great athletes. No refs are on the take. They are simply carrying out the directions by the league and commissioner. And again, there is nothing dishonest about it. The entertainment business is carrying out what ever storyline gains the most profit and/or appeases a particular owner at a particular time.

I maintain that Roger Goodell had Ralph Wilson and William Clay Ford Sr secretly assassinated. For profit.

Cull off the underachievers, hopefully fill their positions with someone who can field more competitive teams, and ultimately boost the bottom line.

Probably hired the same guy to kill em both. I mean... they both lived/died in the same town: Grosse Pointe Shores, Michigan, and died within 16 days of one another. Seems rather suspicious to me.

And really, NFL owners are dying off at an alarming rate.

- Bud Adams October 2013
- Al Davis October 2011

And it's not the owners of the good teams that are biting it. I believe there is a conspiracy at play. Notice the deaths are getting closer together. Much like you would see from a serial killer who is gaining confidence in his ability to get away with each murder.
