Surely you're speaking of Stafford but I don't know what excuses I've made for him.
Actually I was not speaking of Stafford in my opinion is more a broad statement of I really do not see you question any move that Mayhew makes that's all.

You are very optimistic so it seems to me that you try to make the best of every situation maybe you question it first but usually when you talk about it on here to me it's you Artie excepted it and you're trying to move on which is fine. In all actuality you've changed my perspective sometimes but you can't change it unless we discuss the correct?

To add to that. when I first heard of Ameer Abdullah I thought fumbles and after discussing on here with others they showed me where he had four fumbles last season two lost so yes that started changing my opinion. Just maybe he corrected his issue or he did but now I have to wait and see for the outcome.

I think most of the reactions and opinions stem from our personalities. I usually don’t question a lot of things until I see it or witness it myself and I’m usually a pretty positive guy. I question some of the moves Mayhew makes but I refuse to act as if I know better.

For example; before the Lions drafted Abdullah, it seemed as if Coleman would be the answer to their needs at RB (especially since the fans hyped it up tremendously). After they drafted Abdullah, it made more sense once you considered the style of play they want from that position and the things Abdullah offers. Since I liked Coleman, I questioned the pick in my mind but gave it plenty of thought.

Some will.always complain.just like some will always think every move the lions make is gold. Lions addressing their oline was perfect. It's crushing that they lose suh, but otherwise mayhew finally addressed what he should have been addressing. I may have to modify my wins loss.record after that soilid draft.

I have put this post in my notes for the next time somebody calls you a negative Nancy.

Which I am guessing Washburn or somebody saw something they liked in Gabe Wright. That or saw his flaws as fixable. Going by his junior season tape? No clue... I'm still scratching my head a little on that pick. Gotta wait and see I guess.
You shouldn't be. We had a pretty good need at DT, and he's a DT, so...

1) every coaching staff should be confident... I would damn sure hope so.

2) I am always behind any GM when it is their guy. ( constantly defend Martin pick)I was behind Freese also. It did not work out though.

3) Glad it is so easy for you to figure out. I've been told I'm dumb, so...I figure they like him, otherwise I question that confidence you speak of.

4) LS1 you see many moves in a different light than most here.
Most? Or do you really mean he sees things differently than the vocal minority who loves to criticize and nit-pick every move Mayhew makes?

That's a huge dividing line on this board, imo- those of us who question Mayhew's moves, but also understand that we're amateurs, and then those who question his moves and really believe they could do better based on their "extensive" internet research and watching of highlight "film" and college football on TV...

Moments after the pick I stated.

Well, we see four picks and all filled a need. Might not be the right guys in our minds. Mayhew seems to have a vision finally.

Every mock I did had DT in first 3 picks and Meberts mock had Brown going 23. Pretty sure I was aware of the need. I can still scratch my head. Many here wanted Jarrett or Bennett and even saw Xavier mentioned. Nobody spoke of this Gabe kid here at all. Mayhew may know more about being GM than I do. Does not mean I have to agree immediately with every decision like yourself.

Same here. After watching more of him, I have to say that if he truely is over his fumbling woes then he probably is the better back. I think they will both be pretty good though.

Big difference between "liking every decision he makes" and still scratching my head about a draft pick a full week later, after I've had plenty of time to read up on why he was drafted...

Scratching your head when the pick was made makes perfect sense- I think we pretty much all were... but the information as to why that pick was made is out there now, so if your'e still scratching your head and felt the need to comment on it, that would suggest you're questioning those who made the pick...

I'm going on record and saying, right here and right now, that this draft class will be one of Mayhew's best. Tomlinson and Abdullah will be highly productive (I see no reason for them not to). Carter will probably get in some action all throughout the year and will probably be a situational player in the rotation as he's being groomed. Wright may surprise if they get him back to form. He'll be in the rotation so he will probably be most productive there.

Our new Fullback will probably be solid in the power run game and catch a few balls. I can see this group being really productive over the year.

Is there a set time table on rainbowery? Do I have like any pick in 2 days 2 months or for matter two years. That is about how long it took to really liked the Levy pick.

Since you have this love fest going on with my posts. Go look at my comments on the other 6 picks. Hell, I defended the trade up for Wright and maybe the first to do so. Defended it but did not like it. Copy those and do your best to make those not suit your agenda. That will be really fun to read. It has been entertaining to at least.
Save ya time on Carter. Love the two picks of CB. Not sold on Carter yet. I should be ashamed of it too.

I hope you are right on all accounts. I am hoping that adventually between Robinson, Lucas, and Waddle somebody emerges as a solid starter for the right side.

Millenhew is a fucking amateur dude. He is a former player with a law degree. That's it!!! Never a scout, no business experience, no money mgmt experience.

Absolutely zero qualifications and got the job off the recommendation of the worst GM in sporting history made to a senile old fuck who never cared about winning to begin with.

You keep referring to them as if they have some sort of specialized talent when they don't. LewanDUI is even less qualified.

The dude was a professional student whose only business experience was a White House internship with some tree hugger group. I don't know if the dipshit even played the game in HS. But during the decade + that he did in school he ended up as the team manager for U of M. That's the entirety of his football experience. If you can explain to me how that adds up to a job as a salary cap specialist you let me know, I would love to hear it.

Who said anything about liking the picks? You said you were still scratching your head as to why the pick was made, not shit about liking it.

Quit shifting the topic retroactively in order to benefit your argument.

It's awesome how TP won't rest until you and everyone else loves the draft as much as he does. He can't truly enjoy the Lions on his own.

TP, you can face palm that last post (or any other for that matter) all you want, but I challenge you to point out what isn't absolutely spot on in what I said?

About the only worry I have of replacing Mayhew is this. Why he is better than Millen without a doubt. Are we guaranteed the next guy the Ford's hire will be better? Just because they are new means nothing. Mayhew was new to his role. While he has made a better roster. That roster he inherited had only one way to go. I just wondered if he has reached his peak?

I will take my chances on a new guy. As I feel he is doing better than in his first few years. Is he really the guy that is no more than a mediocre GM?
