His skill set isn't found on many street corners. Shame McVay wanted no part of the developing. Great coaches have developed and won with less talent.

No, but only because we don't have a young back up worth kicking the tires on. Our 2 backups are late 20's practice squad journeymen. Goff has been not good, but there is no prospect that makes benching him have any value at all.

You can build a defense with rd2, rd3 and FA.

Walterfootball, for example, has the Lions going QB at 1, CB at 20, and LB at 32. You guys already got a top tier pass rusher last year and spent a 2nd rounder on pass rusher last year. IIRC you spent 2 high picks on DTs the year before. At some point, you have to fill in those gaps in FA I think.

2020 was the worst defense Dallas ever fielded.
Then Quinn came and pushed for a Penn State LB because he saw the rush skills most never thought about. He got a couple of journeymen that knew his system and the worst team on defense lead the league in turnovers last season. Now year two is looking good thus far, and team sack record COULD be the next surprise. Dallas hangs its hat on defense this season and 24 games ago they were HORRIBLE!

If I was a betting man, which really I'm not, but if I was, I'd lay some coinage down that the Lions will use their first pick on a QB. And the lower they finish in the standings the more likely this scenario takes hold.

I think he's fine no matter what this season. They traded their QB for picks this coming draft still, and drafted a first rounder that was injured and hasn't seen the field yet. I personally think there's no pressure and no thought of him being done no matter what.

However some of the other people around here are already calling for his head because they were I think expecting more improvement by now for some reason.

Campbell is in year 2 of a 6 year contract. No way he is in any kind of hot seat yet. However, all the mistakes he made in year 1 he is making more often this year. Next year if he has not show any improvement the seat may start gettig hot.
