On I noticed it yesterday for sure. Kind of hard not to when you see a 63 yard game winner sandwiched around complete ineptitude. That was a crazy Sunday for kickers.

What is so strange is how good kickers have been up until recently. If you compare the numbers to 20 years ago it's amazing. Want a laugh? Go look up the stats for HOF kickers like Jan Stenerud. I'll save you the trouble, he made only 66%.

We're also seeing far more "shorter distance" field goals in today's NFL as opposed to back then.

The "red zone offenses" are struggling to score touchdowns. I think the demise of the running game, from what it was in the 80s, is a big cause of that.

There are no John Riggins types (or very very few) in today's game that has become so pass-first oriented.
