Let's say next year is his last, he'll break 10,000 yards (baring a horrific preseason injury. He has 70 career TDs (60 rushing). Is that enough to make it into the hall? I think it is. I think the low TD numbers are the only thing that hurts him.

He has a pretty good chance to make it to 10k yards in the second fewest rushing attempts. What if he's able to get to 12k yards and 90ish TDs (not just this year of course)?

He has a chance, but a TON of really, really great players get passed on every season. He might get nominated, but I doubt he'll make it in.

No. There are too many qualified guys not in the HoF yet for Gore to get in. The logjam is great.

If they win the superbowl, and he puts up (legit) pro-bowl numbers this year, I could see him getting consideration.

Would need to hit 10k for it to be a discussion but even if he does it's hard to see him making it. He'll have similar number to Fred Taylor, Corey Dillon and Eddie George and those guys don't scream HOF to me. But I'll be rooting for him.

He's never lead the league in anything of importance and isn't a champion. Id put his HOF odds at less than slim if not none. (Having never been considered the "best" back won't do him any favors either.)

All Time Rushing Yard Leaders:

1. Emmitt Smith ------- 18,355 (HOF)
2. Walter Payton------- 16,726 (HOF)
3. Barry Sanders ------ 15,269 (HOF)
4. Curtis Martin-------- 14,101 (HOF)
5. L.D. Tomlinson ----- 13,684
6. Jerome Bettis-- -- -- 13,662
7. Eric Dickerson--- --- 13,259 (HOF)
8. Tony Dorsett--- ----- 12,739 (HOF)
9. Jim Brown - --------- 12,312 (HOF)
10. Marshall Faulk ----- 12,279 (HOF)
11. Edgerrin James ---- 12,246 (HOF)
12. Marcus Allen ------- 12,243 (HOF)
13. Franco Harris ------ 12,120 (HOF)
14. Thur. Thomas------ 12,074 (HOF)
15. Fred Taylor -------- 11,695
16. John Riggins-------- 11,352 (HOF)
17. Corey Dillon-------- 11,241
18. O.J. Simpson ------ 11,236 (HOF)
19. Warrick Dunn ------ 10,967
20. Steven Jackson ---- 10,678
21. Ricky Watters ------ 10,643
22. Jamal Lewis -------- 10,607
23. Thomas Jones------ 10,591
24. Tiki Barber --------- 10,449
25. Eddie George------- 10,441
26. Ottis Anderson----- 10,273
27. Adrian Peterson---- 10,115
28. Ricky Williams------ 10,009
29. Frank Gore-------- 9,967

If Frank has 2 more seasons with the exact same numbers as 2013, he'll have 12,223 career yards, making him 13th all time right behind Marcus Allen. If he can do that, then I think he should be in the discussion for the Hall of Fame, but I don't think he makes it if he ends his career with less than 12,000 yards.

Gore has similar numbers to those guys with WAY less attempts however. I'm not sure if hall voters care a bout that kind of thing, but to me it is important. George for instance has about 2900 attempts to Gore's less than 2100.

If they win a super bowl and he plays for another couple years, he's got a shot. If the Niners rattle off a few more deep playoff runs - frankly, even if Gore is gone after this year - that would help. He was the offense for this team for like seven years.

the HOF is very much about 'stats', but rushing yards alone isn't enough.

if Gore had multiple championships where he had big SB's, or a string of Pro Bowls, or a couple of All-Pro seasons...................he'd have a chance in addition to his "all time" yards.

don't see Gore getting good stats this season due to RBBC, nor remaining with the 49ers the next.

I think he deserves a look. He was fucked by playing for the 49ers during some really bad times. To make the HOF you don't have to be considered the best back in the league like that guy said. That would mean only maybe 2 guys from each generation would ever make it. Jerry Rice was the best WR for over a decade in a row. By that logic he would be the only WR allowed in.

Gore can still add to his numbers and get himself right there. If he wins a Superbowl with the Niners (still being the featured back) I think he can get in.

No. He'll end up in the 'Hall of Very Good'.

He still needs a few more seasons of GOOD to GREAT production to be considered a Hall of Famer. A Superbowl win can't hurt, either.

His best season in the NFL came during those bad times.

Does Fred Taylor get in?

If the answer is no, than Gore isn't a HOF'er either.

Sorry, but Gore was never the best player at his position at any point in his career. I've always been a really big Gore fan, but I can't see him being a HOF'er.

11. Edgerrin James ---- 12,246 (HOF)

lol just realized I accidentally added Hall of Fame next to Edgerrin James....

Anyway, since most of us agree Gore doesn't have HOF stats yet, how many career yards do you guys think Gore need in order to be nominated for the Hall of Fame (without a Super Bowl ring)?

I think if he reaches Jim Brown level (or better) numbers, he's got a good shot. But not much of a shot if he finishes with much less because the other RBs in that area were much more dangerous catching out of the backfield.

Very good but not all-time great runningback IMO.

They have to set that barrier between who gets in / who doesn't at some point. And I think Frank Gore just misses out.

I think he has a shot. He needss 2 or 4 really good years. If he does that he will break top 10-12. Tough to not put a guy in the HOF that is top 10 all time in rushing although rushing yards have lost meaning with all the extra games. Hell the Bus didnt get in last year and he is top 6.
