He would be singing an entry contract, so he would be relatively cheap. And with the Kings having cap issues, this would be a great move.

How can the Kings not be looking at him? It seems his preference is to stay in the East though with the teams he listed.

And even though he would be an ELC, he would not be cheap; based on the hype he will most likely get the maximum for for an ELC for someone a his age (23) - 2 years/$3.775 million with a maximum salary of $925,000 per year but with performance bonuses of $962,500 an AAV of $1.8875 million.The full cap space counts for the year even if he doesn't earn all the performance bonuses and is adjusted in the summer for the following year's cap space.

The Kings have a projected available space number of $29,773 (yes, about the cost of a new second tier car - you are reading that right) so unless some other moves are made, they will not be signing him.

While being a Hobey Baker Award winner is an awesome recognition for an amateur, more often than not they have a hard time replicating that at the NHL level, historically anyway, although in recent years Gaudreau (2014) and Eichel (2015) have delivered on those lofty expectations.
