Once Cleveland made the decision to move on from him that signaled bust. Teams don't spend the #1 overall pick on a QB unless they believe he will be their franchise guy for over a decade. Now that he has been released by a horrible team the answer is clear.

They should have to own that.

I'm sure I said no. And at the time it was accurate. Especially in 2020. Last year was such a huge setback and maybe this is what he ultimately was but a total bust doesn't break the rookie record for TDs with Jarvis as your 1 and a hodge podge of guys from there. Yes he had a very good line and a rookie Nick Chubb

It's pretty wild how he regressed from there and Allen took off.

But yes now... he definitely looks to be a bust.

That said I could also see him reinvigorate his career somewhere down the line. He will never be a top 10 guy but those are rare anyway. He just needs to humble himself and go be a backup somewhere.

I think when this thread started, I defended Baker. Now, yeah, he's a bust. I will say a lot of the negative views on him start with his obnoxious personality but he just went steadily downhill after the early success. The problem now is that there doesn't seem to be anywhere for him to go where he can sit behind a solid veteran and learn even if he was willing to swallow his pride and do so.

I bet there are a few dozen (maybe more like a dozen dozen) cocky, know-it-all, arrogant posts in this thread that would be great bumps right now...:pound:
But, we all know it will just be a tap dance and 30 pages of refusing to admit you were wrong

Not sure what I said in this thread but for sure thought after the 2020 season and pre-injury 2021 he was a franchise level QB (so not a bust). I'm sure my vote at time was also not a bust.

Like this one?
You can't be that dumb or desperate can you? Well I guess you are with your post mining attempt

I'd say in October of 2019 when that was written (1 month or so into his second year) it would be 100% moronic for someone to think anything other than: "Mayfield looks horrible at times but he has looked decent at times too. It is way to early to decide what he is."

And guess what, I never voted at the time because of that. But, I have a vote now :pound:

Yes...pretty easy to spike the football now than in 2020 when the Browns were 11 and 5 and an eyelash away from an AFC title game and the Cowboys were 6 and 10.

Things can change quickly.

Post doesn't seem cocky or arrogant or know-it-all more like riding the fence.
True, but if riding the fence seems odd to judge those who had an opinion one way or the other.

Not sure who did vote no who sounded cocky, arrogant or know-it-all. I've only seen some who voted yes and claimed they knew......no one knew.

I’m so glad he’s out of Carolina. The offense with him under center was just miserable to watch.

I agree. Point being saying in 2020 he wasn't a bust wasn't some outrageous statement.
I'd even say that claiming he was - even if it turned out to be right - was more outrageous based on what they had seen.

I just think it's funny you continue to be so concerned with the Browns. And it is the Browns because you're also highly concerned with all things Deshaun.

If it was me I'd be more pumped over my team being in the thick of the playoff hunt.

So not only do you think I am concerned about the Browns, but even odder you think I am more pumped over the Browns than my own team being in the thick of a playoff hunt? That's quite the odd assumption you've made there. I will give you my concern about the Browns games this year since you seem so interested. I root for them to get up every single week and run the ball and give Chubb a shit ton of fantasy points. Now that Watson is playing, would I love to see him personally crash and burn? Yes.

I did like his "stadium" house commercials.
Love those. Would be awesome if he had a sense of humor and worked his benching/being cut/sucking into them. Like a clip of him "moving out" of the Carolina stadium and turning off the lights on his way out or something. Maybe giving the keys to Darnold on his way out. As difficult as it is to like the real Baker, it's pretty easy to like the guy he plays in his commercials
