I said it might be possible and it was possible, didn't you say a 2nd round pick would have to be included in any trade for Mayfield?

My post from early May. Like I said, I’m sure the delay was salary and they really get close to half since Baker forfeited the $3.5M. Pretty much exactly what I said

Picks don't matter at this point compared to salary. The Browns have about $30M in cap not counting the Hooper cap coming after June 1st. I bet you the Browns would take a 7th if they can get the team take his full salary but that is not likely. The Browns are already going to have a ton of cap rollover but any salary from Baker will also go to that 2023 rollover. I still think they can get a 4th or 5th but like I said, it's more about salary than anything at this point.

If a team takes half of Baker's salary, that is a steal, any way you look at it, plain and simple. He is without a doubt a top 20 QB but closer to mid of the pack 15-16.

If I remember correctly. In the beginning they (he) were saying they wouldnt pay half.

Carolina and Seattle always made the most sense for Mayfield after the Deshaun Watson acquisition by Cleveland. And with the Panthers, Mayfield should be the overwhelming favorite to start Week 1 against, you guessed it, the Browns. Giddy up. In Mayfield and Sam Darnold, the Panthers now employ the Nos. 1 and 3 overall picks from the 2018 draft. Hmmm doesn't seem as it was fan driven now does it. Beside the fleecing of only getting a 5th and paying 10M, the FO screwed up that relationship so bad BM willingly left 3.5M on the table just to get away.

The Panthers are paying Mayfield $4.85M in guaranteed salary. Additionally there are $3.5M in incentives. The incentives haven't been stated but I doubt they will be hard to achieve. Effectively the Panthers are on the hook for $8.35M...which is a good deal for them. I think Mayfield is worth more than that. I would give up the equivalent of the #155 pick in the 2023 NFL Draft for that contract.

No he doesn't. Just a waste of draft capitol, money, time and effort for the Panthers. Heads are going to roll in Carolina after this disaster of a move, However could of been worse if the Panthers had not held their ground. Mayfield just isn't a quality NFL starting QB, likely be a journeyman backup going forward just like many other failed QBs in the league.

He may be a mid pack starter, but he is definitely better than a back up.
If he is healthy I would take him over Cousins.
