It's now after the game and I don't know which throw you're referring to. I haven't seen Mayfield make a throw that others couldn't. This sounds like Mayfield made a questionable decision that paid off.

How many back-ups would throw a 5 yard pass in bounds and use up 20 seconds when their team was down 8 points, was 90 yards from a TD, and had just 1:59 remaining? The answer is 'most of them'.

so basically you didn't watch the game. got it.

This thread was started in October 2019...Mayfield's 2nd NFL season. He's in his 6th season and this thread is still active. He was never a complete bust that couldn't play and would be out of the NFL before his 4th season. Maybe he'll be a starter for a few more years. He's a top 32 QB but the top 32 QBs aren't all starters.

Bust no.
Disappointment yes.
It's just how you define those words in the end. Certainly not living up to a #1 draft pick.

That must be why be played for $4M.

if one interception in a week 2 game in 2021 doesn't happen Baker is making Daniel Jones money right now. Instead of doing the smart thing he played through it and killed his value.

It was 2 games (one against the Chiefs) and at that time he was the most accurate passer in the league....yes..small sample size.

He's an emotional guy..too emotional...but his head on he's substantially better than an average backup and for you to act like you analyze him without any bias is laughable.

That all ya got?

I have a family and they were watching the snooker. When O'Sullivan finished demolishing Trump I put the Lions game on. At that point the game was in the 3rd quarter. I didn't comment on the game that I see. Seriously, if you're defending Mayfield for 1 pass in 6 years, (even if it was the best pass in NFL history), then your head is in the wrong place. This is the comment I made:
Mayfield is playing for $4M this season. There are back-ups making more money. He's had a good year but let's not forget what his situation was in March 2023.
The comment had nothing to do with today's game.

you're absolutely going to be wrong when Baker makes 20 mil plus next year.

and I will double down and state you're also going to be wrong about Fields being a starter next year.

If people think i'm hating on Mayfield why don't they identify my 'hateful comments'. Total clown show.

As a fun cherry-picked stat -

Baker has more passing TDs than any other active QB under 30 besides Mahomes and Goff.

That includes Lamar, who was drafted in the same class, and Watson, who was drafted in the previous class.

That isn’t accurate.

I could see Mayfield getting $20M for 1 year. That would be top end of my expectations. I think he'll get less. Every chance Fields will be a starter for at least part of 2024. Will he be top 24 starter? Probably not. I wouldn't pick up his 5th year option. I wouldn't trade a 3rd round pick for him.
