So the lineup is likely going to look like this:

1. Lagares
2. Granderson/Murphy
3. Wright
4. Duda
5. Cuddyer
6. Murphy/Granderson
7. D'Arnaud
8. Flores

That is not a bad lineup at all. In fact if Granderson can come around and D'Arnaud takes the next step that's a great looking lineup (minus the fact that Lagares isn't a true leadoff hitter). Some ifs for sure but if it all goes in our favor there really isn't a weak point in that lineup.

Ah, they are doing that aren't they?

That's what I read.

Collins trotted out this stat about how the #3 hitter comes up with no one on base X% of the time. So, instead of making the #3 hitter the #4 hitter, and putting a second leadoff guy in the 2-hole, we go ahead and surrender the first inning in the hopes that we'll strike gold in the third or fourth inning.

Makes...sense...?

I just don't understand baseball anymore.

Some of it is a craps shoot, Hu....but most of it falls on scouting, preparation, approach & discipline at the plate, and of course luck.

Really nervous about Mejia. His elbow is bothering him and it could be another Tommy John. Vic Black and Parnell are still question marks as well. The bullpen may go from a strength to weakness real quick.

Not looking promising for Mejia at the moment. If Familia can pitch like he did yesterday, we'll be alright with him as closer and Torres as the setup man. I'm not holding my breath waiting for Parnell.

This also might give Montero the chance to show that he can be an important key for this pitching staff.

Flores at short is an issue...

Could be time to bring up Matt Reynolds much sooner than later....and fwiw, I think Tejada makes those plays.
.....just sayin'.

They need to figure this out and not have it linger too long....but of course, it's just the 1st week with still a ways to go. A part of me also says let's see how he does on the upcoming homestand...but that leash is getting shorter.

They need to give Flores a few weeks. If he's still playing this poorly at the start of May, then I would go to Tejada or call up Matt Reynolds.

As so many have talked about, the ridiculous lineup needs to be fixed. It's mind-boggling that Collins has Murphy, a table setter/high average type of hitter, in the 5th spot. He can't be comfortable being asked to hit in a power spot. Wright should be hitting in a power spot now that he's healthy. Granderson is a power guy that hits for a very low average, so having him leadoff is ridiculous. Lagares led off all spring and hit well over .300 doing it. Puzzling that at the last minute, Collins decided to put him 6th. All that progress as a leadoff hitter in spring, for nothing. What a joke. After how well the offense did all spring, I can't believe Collins decided to mess with it and put out a silly lineup. Put these hitters back in appropriate spots!

Maybe the Mejia suspension is a blessing in disguise? Gives him time to rest his elbow, if we're still in it when he returns he should be fresh for the playoff push. Just need to bridge the gap until then.

It could be a blessing in disguise. For me, the biggest reason it might be is because it gives Familia the chance to be closer. Familia's stuff is a lot better than Mejia's. Familia has classic, dominant closer stuff. I think he's gonna run with the closer role, and never give it up.

I'm really glad that the Mets didn't trade Colon. After coming up big on opening day, he came up big again today to help the Mets avoid the sweep. Colon really knows how to pitch, and is just a winner. It's a big key having a savvy veteran in the rotation to go along with the younger guys.
