Yeah I mean, I think we can replace his production, it sucks that we won't see him at 100% again probably for another 2 years but this hurts our ability to trade some of this pitching depth. This is a bummer. Gee, Matz and maybe even Montero have become a lot more important. Not to mention Thor...
Per Collins or Alderson?Gee to take Wheeler's place. So much for Joel Sherman!
Per Collins or Alderson?
if that's true...then maybe he'll finally step up and pitch well enough to get some other teams interested in him and we hopefully can get back something better in return down the road. He never really impressed me and he failed to perform to his potential..imho
JUPITER, Fla. (3/19) -- New York Mets second baseman Daniel Murphy departed Thursday's Grapefruit League against the St. Louis Cardinals with right hamstring tightness, a team spokesman said.
Murphy had singled and scored against left-hander Jaime Garcia in the top of the first inning. When the Mets took the field for the bottom half, prospect Phillip Evans had replaced Murphy at second base.
Murphy spent two weeks on the disabled list late last season with a strained right calf.
PORT ST. LUCIE, Fla. --
Dillon Gee allowed two hits over 3 2/3 scoreless innings in his return to the Mets' rotation, and a New York split squad beat the Houston Astros 3-1 Thursday.
Gee, 7-8 with a 4.00 ERA in 22 starts last season, had been relegated to the bullpen when spring training began because of Matt Harvey's return from elbow surgery. Gee now appears to have regained a rotation spot because of Zack Wheeler's season-ending torn elbow ligament.Gee threw 47 pitches, walked two and struck out nine.Cuddyer and Granderson hit solo homers off former Mets pitcher Collin McHugh. Cuddyer's first-inning homer was his third of spring training and Granderson's fourth-inning drive was his second.Travis d'Arnaud added an RBI double in the sixth.Houston's Jonathan Villar hit an RBI double in the seventh.
Bobby Parnell is due to pitch in a minor league game Saturday. That would mark his first game action since undergoing Tommy John surgery last April 8.
Vic Black (shoulder) also is due to resume throwing on flat ground after completing anti-inflammatory medication
