I believe Vegas is trying to suck bettors towards Nebraska, believe it or not. Quite a few people I've talked to are lusting over Nebraska for betting on. I also smell something rotten with a small line like that.
if you want people to bet Nebraska, don't you give them more points? seems to me they want people to bet Iowa, knowing they have a better chance of winning.

at -1, I'd take Iowa, if it moved up to -6.5 or something like that, I'd probably take Nebraska.

According to Shawn Eichorst.

LOL

How does that even happen?

Not that I disagree with what he said, but I wonder if Iowa hasn't used that as bulletin board material from the beginning of winter conditioning throughout this season. Ferentz would be a fool not to post it this week.

So Nebraska is once again a RED letter day on their schedule like 1980's Colorado? :noidea:

lets assume a 6-6 team has 2 wins against top 10 opponents...should that give us at least 1 "other receiving vote"?

I actually thought about that too.

If we win out we're gonna be getting votes. As crazy as that sounds.

Who would vote for us?

Anyone working with an obnoxious Hawkeye fan or fans that they want to shut up with a Husker win?

I doubt it. I just think Ferentz would plaster that all over the football facilities. If not at the beginning of winter conditioning last January, definitely for this week.

Iowa has a lot of longtime deeply rooted rivals in the Big 10. Nebraska is a newcomer so it'll take a while for the Huskers to overtake all that history, if ever.

Heck. The Huskers don't even know who their rival is.

Growing up in Western Iowa, the amount of envy and obsession that Iowa fans (there) have for Nebraska Football is hilarious/borderline psychotic. I've never seen a fan base so concerned with a 5-6 team unless it's their own. Every week I look on the FACEBOOK, Iowa fans from where I grew up have far more to say about the Nebraska Game than their own. I swear to god, you'd of thought they were all from East Lansing with all the whining they did the night of the MSU game.

I've never really hated Iowa. My Dad is an Iowa fan, some of my best friends from high school are Iowa fans. Also truth be told, I was a Husk-EYE fan (Nebraska Football/Iowa Basketball) until I decided to shit or get off the pot around the age of 18. But nothing would make me happier than to ruin the best season of Iowa football since I've been around.

Should Antone be allowed to plorst here? He is in some way, shape or form associated with Iowa.

You would think so, but I wonder if the bookmakers are trying to lure bettors the opposite way. I don't know, I'm just suspicious about how low that opening line was.

Ban JJM?

He has spent more time and money in Iowa strip clubs and casinos than antone lived there

You would think so, but I wonder if the bookmakers are trying to lure bettors the opposite way. I don't know, I'm just suspicious about how low that opening line was.

I can tell you why the line was so low, the oddsmakers and the Sportsbooks know that Nebraska fans bet. If they started off with a big number, then the cash flow on Nebraska quite possibly could not have been put into a comfortable variance for the sportsbooks.

This way, they could see if the Nebraska bettors would take the -1, instead of waiting for the -6.5.

Sportsbooks want to make money on the vigorish, not the bet. They want 1,000,000 $11 bets, half on Iowa and half on Nebraska $11,000,000.

That is $11,000,000, if Iowa covers, they only pay the 500,000 Iowa bettors
500,000 * 21 = $10,500,000

The sportsbook made $500,000.

Why give the Nebraska bettors free points, when they are willing to take just one point?

If they did 6.5 spread, it would probably be more like 900,000 Nebraska bets and 100,000 Iowa bets. That is how the Sportsbook could lose money, if nebraska covers or wins the game.

900,000 * 21 = $18,900,000

But they only took in $11,000,000

That is a loss of $7,900,000.

I'm supposed to fly out for Rome/Israel trip on Saturday.

Nice knowing ye all here at HuskerHoopla

Going to have to say, you have big balls.

What a lovely time to go over there.

Turkey shooting down Russian planes.
ISIS willing to bomb anything and everything. Of course, ISIS leaders runaway though once the fire gets hot.
France and Russia bombing ISIS.

You have the muslims in every European country wanting to kill all the infidels. BTW, you are an infidel.
