Iowa has to compete with ISU and UNI

Q. Can Iowa get to that point? Can it be an Alabama? Can it be a Penn State? Or is it inherently with the population?

COACH FERENTZ: Population helps. It’s not everything. Nebraska doesn’t have a Nebraska State to compete with or a Northern Nebraska.

You guys know this stuff better than I do for crying out loud. You have got more time to look at that stuff. You can do the research. It’s a good project to work on. So anyway; I’m worried about this Saturday. Okay.

Iowa very occassionally competes with Iowa State but the reality is that 90% of the state is Hawkeye fans so most kids want to play at Iowa that are in state recruits anyway.

I was just going to smack talk Iowa about ISU but then I realized for the first time that I shouldn't do that any more.

I have to root for the Hawkeyes now vs. the Clones. Fucking unimaginable. Ahhh! My head!

Yeah itll be big. I still have hope for Iowa competing for the division title but only mostly because of how bad the schedule is. If we can find a way to end our NW curse this weekend we should be 3-1 in the league ( have Indiana at home and at Minnesota the next 2 weeks) and then we get MSU and Michigan at home before going to a bad Purdue team. If we can find a way to be 5-2 heading to Lincoln then I think itll set up nicely for a big game. I really think the winner of the division is going to have at least 2 losses this year.

Cant say Ive ever heard an Iowa fan claim that we are a top tier program. Our history is very mediocre. That said we have definitely been one of the 10-15 best programs over the last decade so there is cause for hope that maybe someday Iowa will be on a higher level.
