You simply don't get it, do you? Where have you seen anyone from MN begging for AP to stay? We don't have to. He's under contract, and if the Vikings don't trade him he'll have 2 options: Play and honor his contract; don't play and get fined. He made a mistake and compounded it with additional mistakes and arrogance.

I don't care if he plays for MN again or not (nor do most people that I talk to) - I've stated it previously, you dunce. I don't think they'll get the appropriate value in a trade, therefore, they should keep him and play this game of chicken.

The funny thing is, there are so many moving parts to this that you fail to understand, but keep swinging buddy. You're the one that can't get off his jock.
100% correct. The Vikings played without AP last year, they aren't afraid of him not playing again this year. He is either gonna play for the Vikings or sit at home making Zip....in other words, when game one roles around, his rear end will be on the field. He doesn't have to like it. Dez may not like playing for the franchise tag, but guess what....he might have to not like it again next year. You think Jerry will cut him lose if he asks, LMAO? The Vikings couldn't care less if he throws a baby fit :baby: They hold ALL the cards

I would send a 2nd round pick for ap if he agreed on a paycut. 8 million per hometown discount. He is better than murray
He was better than Murray. Maybe he still is, but after a year off he's going to be something of a risk. If the Cowboys wanted a high price RB then Murray and keeping the 2nd round pick was probably the better risk/reward strategy. Anyway, as @UK Cowboy points out, both the Vikings and AP would likely say no to your proposal.

Hey, just responding to your jabs here buddy, relax. Soooo, don't trade him because "you won't get back "appropriate trade value" for a 30 year old RB in a league where the RB position has obviously been diminished? So take nothing at all and wait for him to hold out, or even worse, force him to play with no guaranteed money and disgruntled for a mediocre team with developing 2nd year QB and no legit passing offense? Makes sense here, AP should love that situation and put up some pretty good numbers on a team he despise this season??

Your logic makes absolutely no sense dude. Football 101 is you try to get what you can for a player that doesn't want to play for you, and move on. Why just play a game a chicken and deepen mistrust and his desire to give team 100%?? Sounds dumb and desperate, but then again, this is desperate team with nothing to lose. Desperate people do desperate things.

Spot on! We had a top 15 rushing attack with a rookie signal caller, a rookie RB and combination of others, and an ineffective O-Line (what's happened to Kalil?).

I think a combination of a 2 and some other throw-ins would be sufficient, BUT, the real question for any team - How much in guaranteed money is he going to ask for? Additionally, there is the whole suspension status in limbo, and the Commissioner's Exempt list. He may STILL be unavailable until October? I don't think it will come to that, but we'll see.... with that having been said, why would any team take the chance?

Bottom line is, Greg just doesn't get it.

Terrific logic.:brick:

Your logic makes absolutely no sense dude. Football 101 is you try to get what you can for a player that doesn't want to play for you, and move on. Why just play a game of chicken (especially when your head coach already stated twice publicly that they would accommodate him if he wanted out), and deepen an already deep seeded mistrust between the two and what little desire remaining to give your team 100%?? Sounds dumb and desperate, but then again, this is desperate team with nothing to lose. Desperate people do desperate and dumb things.

He won't accept that contract IMO, but there is no way I am giving up a 2nd round pick AND paying AP $8M per year. How is that better for us than just signing Murray and keeping our 2nd round pick? We have a lot of needs still. RB is just one of them.

You don't get it do you? Where has he asked for any guaranteed money in his meetings with owners and GM?? Where is his agent saying that? I think if it is "just a matter" of getting guaranteed money and not his desire to move on from the franchise, that would have been worked out by now don't you think??? :noidea:

Talk about being delusional and not being desperate to get him back....sure.

You don't cancel meetings and declare you want out to the world publicly at an owner's meeting, over simply a matter of getting more guaranteed dollars or just daring a team to play chicken with you....gessh.
:drink:

Your reasoning here just blows dude.

So now there is an "appropriate trade value" that could be had for AP by your team? I'm confused. You just posted here that they will force him to hold out over money, and that they won't get enough back for him in a trade?

Which is it dude?

Greg -

No one has offered anything. I was simply expressing what I WOULD FIND acceptable, but I'm not a GM. AP can scream from the mountain tops, how badly he wants out of Minnesota. I simply don't GAF. That said, do you really believe that AP would accept to rengotiate his deal with any team, without getting ANY GUARANTEES back? You're clueless, dude!

As I've stated all along, if no one offers anything, what's there to trade for? As it stands, he's owed $45MM on his deal (13MM, 15MM and 17MM) - NONE of which is guaranteed. 100% of NOTHING still equals NOTHING! If he holds out, there are ramifications for that. The Vikings could sit/suspend AND FINE. He'd also have to give back the pro-rated portion of his original signing bonus ($2.4 MM). It would also open up a roster spot. Yes, AP can kick and scream, but he has absolutely no leverage.

The Vikings are sitting alright on this AND are in the driver's seat. I don't believe the Vikings need to cater to this ungrateful, spoiled child.

But go ahead Greg. Edumacate me!

"Desperate to get him back".....they already have him back lol. He can play for them or retire. After the public beating he's taken, I doubt he can find an 8 figure a year job outside of football

AP was paid for the entire season last year despite playing in only one game. He didn't have a problem cashing their checks last season. If he doesn't play for the Vikings this season, he loses what, $12 million right? Good luck with that

Wrong agan, he was suspended without pay in November. Always misinformed aren't you? AP can also make up the $13Mil if he doesn't play for them this season. He could easily find that elswhere whenever they do decide to end this charade lol. You people really are basic with your football understanding.

What the Vikes organization better be worried about is the NFLPA's law suit against the league, and the final status of the league's appeal ultimately. If the league loses their appeal, AP would have grounds to sue league for any back pay lost defying courts ruling for his reinstatement, and causing lost wages, not to mention current and future damages. Is playing chicken really the only smart course of action for them here? To force a player to play for you in that environment?? Only a team like the Vikes would be that stupid and desperate enough to not just try and cut your losses and get what you can, while you still can, and move on. Why would you even want to force any player, especially one you want to be the face of your franchise, to play or not get paid, is beyound comprehension. You only create an unwanted distraction for your young football team even further.

Please don't try and put words in my mouth. It still remains to be seen how dumb and desperate that organization can still really be...it must be the freezing cold in the air or something there.

Don't you and PDay have a group hug scheduled here sometime this afternoon? Please go and play with him now. Thanks
