If Mayhew had retained Suh would they be better off? They might have won 2-3 more games to this point, but that is probably enough to keep Mayhew employed, which seems like a worse fate.
Obviously the D would still be super elite. The O would still be in shambles. I give them 4-4, easy. Maybe 5-3. Our D line masked the weaknesses of the rest of these losers.

Lets say this is correct, is that good for the Lions? they are not real contenders at that point an Mayhew continues to make bad calls so they don't improve. It seems like losing Suh will lead to the scorched earth in the Front Office that has been needed for 20 years (or more).
You almost have to look at losing Suh in a positive light at this point. Even if he is one of the best defenders they ever had.
Def picking up what you're putting down. It is an interesting thought. I think you're right that having the top D two years running would get him one more year to fix the O. Maybe he'd get another shot at hiring a HC by firing Caldwell and hiring Austin.
Mostly I am still trying to make myself feel better that Suh is gone, but this is my best theory yet to do it!
Well, he really was our only good player and the only reason we were becoming a winning team. Accepting reality doesn't make us any less of fans.
We will disagree on Levy for the next year or so, and then one of us will be proven right. I hope it is me.

True.Oh man. He's done too. My shitty little source told me he'd miss the year way before the mainstream media picked it up. @broncosmitty can back that up. Word is he's wrecked and no one really knows how it happened. Kudos to his agent for pulling one over on Mayhew,
the D wouldn't still be elite. Levy is out, Tulloch and Mathis got old quick, I don't even know what to say about Whitehead, and we wouldn't have had a dime to spend on anyone to play beside Suh. It would be better, but it wouldn't still be elite.
Maybe you're right, but it's my very strong opinion that Levy is just a guy, and Tully and Mathis were done last year, all threes weaknesses masked by our line. Oh well, Mayhew is gone so I'm moving past Suh.

If Mayhew had retained Suh, he wouldn't be the incompetent buffoon that couldn't retain Suh.
Correct, he would still be the incompetent buffoon, just that he had retained Suh.
