Just like the title says. No mainstream hip-hop allowed, much of the music in this genre today is extremely commercial and gives a bad name to a genre that I feel has a lot to offer if you know where to look. The same songs get played on the radio all day long and rarely does it contain anything of substance, just the same old recycled slang and beats. The evidence that rap/hip-hop has been commercialized is substantial, McDonalds will advertise itself by having a sign saying something like "More beef than Drake and Meek Mill!!", this wasn't the case in the past. Corporations are quick to jump in now.

Intelligent rap in the context of this thread can be anything from the use of a large vocabulary to denouncing the fake tough/rich guy culture to just a song that doesn't get the popularity it may deserve. I'm sure there are more than a few of us tired of the subject matter we often hear from this molly-popping generation.
