This is what to expect from a pitcher like him in my opinion. His "stuff" isn't going to blow you away but its good enough that he has the ability to put a QS on the board from time to time. He relies on location and throwing strikes, sometimes he gets extremely predictable and you will see certain teams teeing off on him. It seems like he usually runs into an inning or two with a few mistakes and before you know it he has given up 4-5 runs in the blink of an eye.

Anytime he is on the mound I am expecting him to give up 4+ runs an outing and hoping for less. That said I was very surprised he pitched so well, glad he did because we needed a win.

No kidding, The ball he hit off the wall was a missile and almost a homer. When Smith is dialed in he can be a really tough out. To me he looks like he is swinging it pretty good right now, the ball just isn't finding any grass right now.

Yeah, and on Monday night he was probably a combined 10 feet away from 2 home runs....both outs.

Man did this team really need this win. They still have a lot of work to do this weekend to make up for all that fail last weekend. Astros did help a little.
