Great... now teh twitter's going crazy after (allegedly) a Boston Globe editor says one of the people captured at this Watertown/MIT shooting is one of the bombing suspects.

Coutdown to CNN "confirming" social network rumors as fact in 5. 4... 3..

Wow... so one of the bombers WAS in fact the missing Brown student, just like reddit people speculated earlier today?

They might have actually gotten it right... amazing.

CNN going out of their way to NOT confirm any connection between... well, anything.

This is crazy. Twitter, Boston Globe, Boston PD, Boston TV station (forgot which one) all confirmed that these two are the dudes (one in custody, one on the run)... like 20+ minutes ago.

Interwebs win, hands down.

Ok I can give you an update from what I see on the morning news today. Watertown Mass has a 20 block crime scene and is in lockdown. 1 Bomber dead the other on the run somewhere in Watertown. People are being told to stay inside and do not open your door for anyone. As someone posted eariler, an MIT officer was shot and killed by these 2. It appears they may have been planning on setting off more bombs as during a police pursuit they threw some explosive out the window (maybe grenades). As you can imagine the police presence is extremely large as they hunt for the 2nd suspect street to street with SWAT teams there also.

Well it seems like getting those pictures out there was the thing to do. At least they got one of the bastards now I hope they get the other. I would rather see them suffer some how.

It sounds like someone fingered these guy's but it will take a while to get the details straight.

Chechnya is a fucked up region. Weren't they the ones that took the theatre in Russia hostage like a decade ago? They had to send gas through the vents to knock everyone out and start the rescue?

Anyway, I'd prefer they got this guy alive, but dead would be ok as well, so long as no more of the good guys go down.

Yeah, the Chechen rebels have pulled some pretty nasty stuff over the years.

There's no excuse for civilian attacks of course, but the Chechens aren't the only bad guys in all of this. Moscow has ruled them with an iron fist since the late 90s, destroyed their entire infrastructure, including complete destruction of their capital of over 1M people and estimated civilian casualties ranging from about 75K-125K just during the two Chechen wars (i.e., not counting the in-between periods of "peace").

Things were so bad that at one point, the number one industry in Chechnya was kidnapping. I shit you not.

Entire city of Boston and surrounding communities (Cambridge, Somerville, Watertown, etc.) is essentially under marshall law right now. Most businesses are closed, no subway service, and apparently even the governor has "requested" that people not leave their homes for any unnecessary reasons.

Total insanity.
