Goes without saying. I have moved from optimism to pessimism on him.

I'm trying to be optimistic in my daily life and with sports but it is failing miserably and I am leaning towards pessimism I will try to remain optimistic about him

To get back on track....

I think that adding Parker actually makes a huge improvement for the WR group.

Agholor was a #4 last season and now can be the #4 with little deference.
Meyers was a flip between #2 and #3 but actually moved into the #2 move often
Bourne was thought to be the #4 but became the #2 and played that way

If all four of these guys play like #2s then they will be miserable for a defense. Henry as the #5 will be even more of a threat. If by some freak BB can draft aWR who can step in and play like A #2 ,Then Mac will have a 5000 yd 35 TD year. There won't be any need for a #1 with five #2s. With the RBs on this roster, this could be a nasty offense for any defense to deal with.

Now, the only worry is putting together the offensive playbook and executing it.

Jakobi was actually our #1. He does not have the wide range of skills of a guy like Edelman.
Using him as a #1 forced our offense into either:
Putting him in positions he is not ready/suited for or,
Putting him in and playing the same plays over and over.
Either way hurts our offense and his production.
Jakobi will be a better #2 with a #1 on the field. More #2's won't hurt him either

I'm not a fan of labels like WR #1, WR #2 and prefer to think of each player as part of the combined team resources. Jakobi did his part and the team lacked the complete resources it needs from its WR group as a whole.

I agree I understand why they use the terms, But when we had Hernandez and Gronk I sure as shit didn't care who or what the "#1" was.

Jakobe was our best receiver again. By default that makes him our #1WR.
"lack of resources" hurt his production for the reasons I noted earlier.
Semantics but did he really "do his part" if he was not in a good situation and his production suffered?

I was giving my perspective and not countering yours. I look at it like this: What was our expectations for Jakobi and how did he perform based on that. He did well. Sure, he could have done better if there were others to take coverage away from him, but he performed well despite that...

There should be a WR stat that weights performance factoring in relative attention given by each defense. There's not (is there?).

On this past Tuesday, Mac Jones had Nelson Agholor, Kendrick Bourne and Jackobi Meyers with him in Tampa working on their passing routes and giving Mac a chance to air it out. On Wednesday, the Patriots traded for Devante Parker and guess who jumped on a plane for Tampa and got there in time to catch a few passes? On Thursday all four WRs were joined by JJ Taylor and Mac had the workout filmed. I can't find that film anywhere but there are some Twitter shots of everyone sitting in the stands at the field.

I already like Parker. Even more, I like his attitude.

Deebo Samuel has taken down his SF twitter accounts. Anyone else think NE should pursue this?

I'd give up our 1st, 3rd and a 6th if that's what it took.

I'm a little concerned about his durability. SF did abuse him.

Thoughts?
