Glad the Dodgers didn't get him.....10 years is a looooooong ass time. Last 3-4 years could be a noose around their neck.
I am glad the dogs didn’t get him as well, but really just to protect 1988 (even though it doesn’t have the same power as it did just a few months ago). The dogs have a hell of team NOW and getting GS just puts them over the top. Not getting GS keeps them in the pack.Glad the Dodgers didn't get him.....10 years is a looooooong ass time. A short deal I can see it worth the risk. But this guy will miss the majority of games in several seasons.I have been arguing against getting him since the rumors started during the season. NOT getting him was the smart move.
But the short-sighted fan in me was getting excited about following him in a Giants uniform.
I think that's a given. He's hit 26 homers over his last 1000 and some ABs.I guess Buster Posey's are too. Poor Giants
That was an MVP, batting champ and World Series championship year. Pretty hard for that NOT to be your best season...I think that's a given. He's hit 26 homers over his last 1000 and some ABs.
He's a 30 year old catcher.
His best season was already five years ago.

His peak has certainly been HOF-worthy, given he is a GG catcher and multiple time champ. But he still needs a bit more to get in (no reason to think he won’t get there, just that it is still on his to-do list). It was a great year. He had others too. Not many players top out in their thirties.
Not like I don't think he's good. His downswing is going to be as productive as many HOF catchers primes.

I am quite vocal about my desire for the Giants to do a complete tear down rebuild. But I still am not in favor of trading Posey. He can help develop both the hitters and pitchers for the next run, in which he would act as the grizzled vet and on field coach. Besides, with his contract, I am not certain any return would be worth losing his ties to the team, org and fandom.

He'd have to fall flat on his face the rest of the way not to be enshrined. Offense, defense and rings. And he's nice, that always helps.
He could be valueable for awhile as a part time catcher/1st base. And attendance would be better with him still a Giant.
Lol.I assume he will be a HOFer as well.
But...
Joe Mauer.
A strong understanding of human nature.
Yes. I have most people figured out within 5 minutes of meeting them.Lol. You've got to be kidding me.
Yep. But its tough for some of the knob slobberers to face that fact.I think that's a given. He's hit 26 homers over his last 1000 and some ABs.
