Laker fans have legit beef there, however. You guys were mad at him for the right reasons. He failed to produce. Most Laker fans were okay with Howard leaving (if not outwardly hoping he would).

I understand the resentment a lot more when the team is relatively close to contender status. You know, like any team LeBron leaves, or KD leaving OKC. I just don't get being mad at PG though. The Pacers are a 30 win team without him and he is saying he wants to return to his hometown.

I say good for you PG13! Go do it.

Not really, the guy was hurt and they rushed him back when he was clearly not 100% healthy.

ANd hired a coach that did not fit his skillset. It was just not a good situation from the start.

I agree. But as person, you're seriously lacking some fundamental human characteristics to literally go after someone's way of life. As much as Wiggy pisses me off, I'd never think about turning him into his employer for even the most minuscule things.

yeah, he's an anonymous clown on a sports message board. just putting it in perspective here...

Yeah, by the end of the season, I think most Lakers fans wanted him gone. It was obvious that he wasn't a guy who could lead a team to a title. What's happened with him since he left the Lakers pretty well shows why, as bad as things have been, the Lakers dodged a bullet when he decided not to stay.

I also don't understand the PG-13 hate (and not just because I'm a PG-13 fanboy and Lakers fan). This isn't Lebron or KD going to stacked teams which both have been criticized for.

This is a star player going to a team that is coming off a 26 win season because he wants to play for his hometown team.

Dont understand the backlash in this thread

If youre a die hard of a team, in any sport, that is losing your best player, the face of your franchise, most likely sending your organization into years of mediocrity, i think we would all be pretty pissed at that player, especially one leaving for the big market, big city opportunities

Saying "Thanks for the memories, and best of luck", its simply not how the fans' mind should operate

Pacers fans should be pissed at their FO for not putting a better team around him. Paul George has been with the Pacers for what? 8 years? They had their shot.

How much loyalty do teams show players when they trade them? Why should any more be expected of players?

No, that's not what he said. He said PG should have PRIVATELY told management, so they could get a lot more for him. That would have been the classy play.

It's looking like it wasn't PG-13 or his people that leaked it. Apparently, it was leaked by other teams after they were contacted by the Pacers.

LOL.

So I just went back and reread the OP. Originally, I glossed over the tweet. Did not realize it was OP who tweeted it. Oh the irony.

Seriously though, @HurricaneDij39, you better hope your employer doesn't see your Twitter post. If so, they may teach you a thing or two about job loyalty. Anyone with a job dealing in the public sector gets fired For posting that. That is some hateful stuff you are putting out for the world to see. You best delete that tweet and hope neither of your two followers forward it.

Oh, I'm so scared of what my boss thinks of my opinion of Paul George.:L

Speaking of twitter, for someone with under 50 tweets, I got a good ratio of following/followers going.

Agreed, would just be nice to see a star remain with one team his entire career, especially when that team plays for a smaller market

It would be nice.

When you see a guy like Love leave MIN...that tells me, that ship has sailed.

The reality is the NBA has always been a big market league. CLE, thrives with the best player in the game. SA, is coach Pop and they were able to win some titles and build a base but never had the national appeal.

Well, to be fair, they were very pretty and inspirational signs.

I wouldn't have had as much problem with him playing out the season and then leaving. But to go through his agent and before letting the season play itself out to me is the coward move.

by cheating the lottery system.

Otherwise no one gives a shit about SA and Pop isn't even there right now.

Yeah you have issues. Given your behavior on this board. I'm confident in saying that you're full of shit.

I disagree. By letting the Pacers know early, he gives them a chance to actually get something for him rather than him walking for nothing which is what would have happened if he just didn't say anything and played out the season.

Unfortunately, it leaked and no one seems to know how. I've heard that the Pacers FO leaked it, I've heard that PG-13's people leaked it and I've heard that other teams leaked it when the Pacers started making inquiries.

If what seems to be the Lakers current offer of the #27, #28 and either Randle or Clarkson is true and what the Pacers accept, it won't be what he would be worth if he were being traded under normal circumstances, but it's still pretty good, all things considered.

Look, there's no good way for a popular player to leave a team. Especially in his prime. The fans and the organization are always going to be upset.

Even without "The Decision" the Cavs and their fans were always going to be upset about him leaving. They may not have burned jerseys, but they were never going to be happy about it. One of the big complaints was that he didn't give the Cavs a heads up so that they could prepare. PG-13 isn't dping that to the Pacers.

When Lebron left Miami and returned to Cleveland. Lebron, not only didn't give the Heat a heads up, he dragged out his announcement until it was too late for them to make other moves. PG-13 isn't doing that to the Pacers.

When KD left OKC. He was not only called a coward, but was criticized for not letting the Thunder know in advance so that they could prepare. Pg-13 isn't doing that to the Pacers.

Instead, he has informed the Pacers of his intentions well in advance. That's more notice than he likely would have gotten if the Pacers had decided to trade him.

Agree to disagree then. I just think George needs to fulfill his contractual obligations and let the season play out before deciding on his future. What we get for him in return is not as relevant to me. Because I've said all along that if we're going to rebuild, we might as well do it with cap space and not take some garbage contract such as Clarkson, Deng, or Mozgov (Mozgov was just traded regardless).

Back to the subject of Durant, I don't think anyone has a problem with the nature of how he handled free agency. I think the beef with him stems from the fact that joined the team that beat him in the playoffs just a month earlier.

No offense, but who the hell are you to tell another person how and when to decide on their future? Makes you seem awfully full of yourself.

He knows what he wants and he's been up front and honest with the Pacers about that. It seems like you'd rather that he just not say anything and then walk away after the season when the Pacers can't get anything for him. That makes no sense.

Additionally, PG-13 told the Pacers that he was not going to re-sign with them after this season because he wants to go to the Lakers. To my knowledge, he never demanded a trade and was/is perfectly willing to fulfill his contractual obligation. He just gave the Pacers a heads up (which he is not required to do) which affords them the opportunity to trade him so they get something for him.

What we get for him in return is not as relevant to me. Because I've said all along that if we're going to rebuild, we might as well do it with cap space and not take some garbage contract such as Clarkson, Deng, or Mozgov (Mozgov was just traded regardless).

Who said anything about Deng or Mozgov? Mozgov is already gone and from what I've heard, the Lakers offer is the #27 and #28 picks in this years draft plus the Pacers choice of Clarkson or Randle. Neither the Clarkson nor Randle contract will have any significant impact on the Pacers cap and both are good young players to begin a rebuild with.

Plus, you get 2 first rounders this year that could be moved for a player or more picks. Or, if the Pacers keep them, could net them a solid couple of players.

Imo, that's far better and more fair to the Pacers than just leaving after the season and they get nothing in return.
