5*/4* Illinois commit, Ayo Dosunmu plays on the AAU circuit for Mac Irvin.
4* Talen Horton-Tucker used to play for Mac Irvin, but he switched to Team Rose sometime in the spring or summer. Both Dosnumu and Horton-Tucker are from Chicago.
While in pursuit of Ayo, Illinois missed out on just about every other top target they had.
Ayo officially committed to Illinois about a week ago. After Ayo committed to Illinois, it seemed that Horton-Tucker would soon follow. There was serious CB movement for Horton-Tucker to the Illini.
Apparently, Horton-Tucker attempted to give Illinois a silent verbal last night, as he was scheduled to announce his commitment tonight. Illinois refused his commitment, because Ayo's AAU team, Mac Irvin, gave Illinois an ultimatum:
You don't get to keep Ayo, if you accept a commitment from Horton-Tucker. Mac Irvin is apparently bitter that Horton-Tucker switched teams over the summer.
Immediately, Illinois revoked Horton-Tucker's scholarship offer. I'm sure revoking a Chicago kid's offer at the last second will go over well in the Chicago basketball circle.
Grown ass man Brad Underwood just let an AAU team dictate his program. Illinois desperately needed talent in this recruiting cycle, because they've missed out on all of their top targets, with the exception of Ayo, and Ayo's AAU team just screwed them.
