If we are being honest about it, DeVonta Smith is going to establish himself as the best WR in the league within the next 3 years.

K. Well with fewer targets. Goedert had more receiving yards 6 of 8 games that they both played and finished to start the season.fulgham had alot of targets too. Could be off there
Maybe someone didnt finish a game before week 9
Haha what? Fulgham wasn’t even on the roster? All you’re doing is showing that Goedert does more after the catch than most TEs. That doesn’t make him the 2nd option. Listen, I get it. You stepped out on something and you were wrong. It’s not out of bounds to say my bad, I’m wrong.

yeah, we can see your're spinning this a bit. The point is fulgham had alot of targets too. Targets dont always equal production. A top 10 wr getting more targets, having less yards, and less yac than your tight end.....hey thats fine.

In games they both played Smith had 200 more yards and 20 more catches. What are you talking about? Haha.

Our conversation was in receiving options for the offense. You claimed that Goedert and not Smith was the 2nd option. Targets are the most important stat in that discussion.

My apologies on fulgham. My intent was to state that in the past he had alot of targets, but that doesnt mean hes a productive or efficient option. I also stated up to goederts injur in my comments, Yet thats not what you are discussing. We are going to spin in circles here. I can tell. My comment and point has changed, but yours has.

What am I missing? Who is number 2 on his team?

This is where our conversation started. My point has been consistent throughout. Smith is the number two option on the Eagles. Each thing you’ve said since, I’ve been able to show is wrong and inconsistent. Prior to Goedert being hurt when both were available Smith had more overall targets. Additionally, looking at game by game targets in the 10 games Smith out targeted Goedert in 6 of the 10 games and in one of them they had the same number of targets. When you look at their production and you take out the yards and catches Smith had during Goedert’s string of 4 missed games, Smith still has 200 more receiving yards and 20 catches more.

ok I was trying to be a little bit of a smart ass. However, yes post injury smith came on, pre-injury despite his targets(targets do not = production) goedert was the more productive option. Can we agree on that? FWIW Smith has shown for now he can withstand the beating. I had said prior to his senior year he was the best receiver on that bama team. Still would like to see him fill in some, but not if it sacrifices his ability to seperate.

From watching the season play out, the Eagles offense would be different from week to week depending upon the matchups. That’s why you saw Smith out target him in 6 contests and Goedert out target him in 3 games. It’s rare for an in line TE to be a top 1-2 target for a team. That’s usually a product of one of two things: 1) the WR core is just subpar and the team doesn’t get the needed production out of that group - See Mark Andrews Baltimore. 2) You have an all world cheat code at TE like Travis Kelce in KC. I guess it’s a good thing that this debate exists. That means the Eagles have weapons.

I agree with your physical assessment of Smith needing some extra lbs. At the same time, it’s a small sample size but Smith hasn’t missed a game as an Eagle due to injury (knocks on wood). Smith seems to be one of those guys who has a knack for taking a hit while protecting himself from injury (again knock on wood). I think the Eagles pattern designs help him in this regard. I don’t have the numbers in front of me but it seems like his routes mainly are run outside the hash marks. Maybe if he puts on those lbs you’re talking about, the Eagles can use him on more of those slants and digs the way they use AJ Brown.

man him and brown just arent built the same for those routes. Browns a monster. Id just like him to fill in so he doesnt snap in half. Yes he's held up well. But the odds are forever not in his favor, not even close at his current size. Very few players survive that size. Its possible..

Did he? Go route extraordinaire. 75% of
His receiving totals generally came in like 3-4 games a year. Guy was very overrated.
He’s had a great NFL career. I mean I guess you can diminish any player if you really want to. For the sake of this conversation about a smaller WR having a career that avoids major injury making him a liability that would apply.

You don’t have to apologize. Fan bois make sports go round. Some people don’t let petty things getting in the way of their sports opinions.

Didn’t you just admit that your opinion of Jackson is clouded because you don’t like the guy? Weird. I’m just reacting to what you’ve said.

I’d be very pleased if Devonta Smith finished with 11,000+ receiving yards 58 TDs and 17.6 yards per catch. If you stick around in the NFL for 15 years at his position you’re a great receiver.
