Is it too early to use the word "bust" with Latimer?

As painful as that admission is, I think it's a pretty safe statement at this point. Latimer had a good shot at making a great play during the Browns game and curled in when Manning was throwing him on a go pattern. He's definitely living up to his reputation of not being able to grasp the playbook.

I guess I am not ready to use the word bust on him. The kid has all the physical skills you could ever want in a WR...Big, Strong, Fast, Good Hands. He is missing 3 qualities so far. Route running as college he mostly ran 9 routes and come back routes from what I have seen. The next is that intelligence to handle the position especially in a Manning lead offense. I do wonder a bit if we had Osweiler at QB and Kubiak running the offense if Latimer would do better instead of having to figure out what all Manning is trying to tell him at the LOS. Finally I would say that will to want to be great. When I see guys like Harris, Barrett, Miller, Ware, and so on with this team and the little things they do to make themselves great. I was listening to an interview the other day with Joel Dreessen and he said when he met Barrett he was a chubby guy and just kept thinking "Oh man this kid doesn't look like a DE/OLB and will most likely just be a camp body." Barrett worked his tail off though to improve his physical health by changing his diet and training in a better way to now see what we got this year. I haven't seen that improvement from year 1 to year 2 that you would hope from a guy like Latimer.

Now having said all that he did get a decent number of snaps in this last game. He didn't do much as a WR but I will say he put some great effort into his blocking. I was actually impressed with him in that way.

Owen Daniels doesn't have the speed to get much separation meaning Manning has to hold onto the ball just a hair longer hoping he would get open. When you throw in it doesn't look like they are on the same page at all in what Manning wants him to do on a given play it makes sense that Manning just struggles to trust him. Virgil Green I have no idea why they are not using him more but again seems like there is a very big disconnect between him and Manning. There was one play where Green was wide open easy touchdown right down the middle and Manning never even looked his way.

To me the Broncos need to simplify. Manning and his receivers are not on the same page. Either we go all the way back to the old Manning offense or we eliminate Manning's ability to call all these hot routes because his receivers are not getting the message very well of what he expects of them. They are all out there thinking way too much and just need to have things simplified so they can just go play. I know that goes against what Manning loves to do but right now we can't continue with what is happening. I would love for us to add a TE that has some receiving ability to add to the middle of the field but again adding them means we have to get them up to speed. If we go with Manning's complicated system I can't see anybody new coming in and being a huge boost.

He's in Jacksonville, unfortunately. Jeff Heuerman was the Broncos plan to replace Julius but his pre-season injury derailed that plan quickly. Most have forgotten that we drafted our TE of the future....

Unfortunately that guy in JAX can't block to save his life.

Well, there is that but he looked pretty good in the end zone hauling in Manning's passes. It seems like all of our tight ends are now rendered to blocking only and we really need to open up those middle of the field seams. Julius was a stud in that area. I agree with the Broncos moving on from JT but I sure miss that TE production in the passing game.

I would think that would be Green, but I have no clue what to make of their lack of use with him.

I swore this thread off, but here I am again -

The one area the Broncos really did a bad job on was stocking the TE position. They could not seriously had counted so heavily on the kid from Ohio State - whose name I can't spell. The Broncos need to run Polumbus out there as a 2nd TE and target Green.

It is not. He said he has gotten his speed back but said he can't make the cuts like he used to.

That is the real Question.. DC ....

The problem with Manning and Daniels might improve if they ever practice together
