Agreed. The sell that you could be the next Lakers superstar is enticing. Also, the sell to him and his wife "LaLa" about living in LA is enticing. Also, the money (assuming Melo would get another max deal in 4 years) is almost identical between LA and NY.

After how D12 bolted am not pinning my hopes on Melo signing here...today's ballers have different goals than players back in the 'da day. Having said that, D12 took less $ and if Melo signs with Lakers he'd be doing same.

It was always a longshot to get Melo or Lebron. I would expect Gasol to follow as well. If that's the case, another year of 1-year contracts preserving that cap flexibility for next summer is likely in store for the Lakers.
