The guy I would want the most is Rinne from Nashville, he's a UFA next year and Nash has to sign Weber and Suter so he may be out there

Nashville also has Lindback and Pickard coming up, so there's a possibility.

Id actually prefer to go full out for Weber..doubtful he comes here though I see him going to Detroit to replace Lidstrom.

Rinne is awesome though. I wouldnt have any problems with having him as Marty's replacement.

If by some miracle we could nab rinne bernier or even price id shit myself. I'm a big believer in Wedgewood and kinkaid (Wedgewood especially) but its hard to pass on a guy like rinne.

Marty is going to have to really struggle this season for him to not want to return though. Anything over a .912-.914 ish S% and he's going to play again I think.

I think injuries will be the primary reason Marty would consider retirement. I mentioned this a few weeks ago in another thread, where I said goalie can be a concern because we have 2 guys pushing 40. Not saying they can't get the job done when healthy, but when you are that age, you are more likely to suffer an injury and it takes longer to heal.

So far, this is probably not the start Marty hoped for. I just read he will have a doctor look at it again. I hope its just a minor tweak.

Rinne for the Win!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

But if he does go UFA, i wonder what kind of money he'll demand(since there will be a bidding war).... maybe some ties/roots to Jersey? one can hope.

on a side note, my old boss is a rangers fan and i luv fucking with him about King Henry switching over... HA

No reason we could offer Rinne 5.5 - 6 for 7-10 years.

Schnieder would work but I wouldn't want to give up much in the way of roster players... and that is exactly what Van would want for him

Wouldn't mind this at all. He has had the better of the Devils for years.
I was up last night working and had the ranger game on. They had no business winning that game. Yes, it was 4-0, but he made I think 40 saves. Through 2 periods, I don't think the rangers had more than 10 or 11 shots. He was standing on his head which seems to happen every game. Even last year, I will say that without him, they have bottom 3 worst record in the league.

i still think his pads are too big and if they nhl cracked down he would be a little less effective. but still i think he is up there as tops in the nhl

Most of the goalies wear king sized matresses as pads now so goaltending as a collective will be less effective. He'd still likely be in the top 5.

Marty was actually one of the main guys in favor of reducing the size of goalie pads when he was on the competition committee. His proposal, not sure why they wouldn't approve it, was to make the pads a certain ratio to the size of the goaltender. So a 6'1" goalie that weighs 190 could not wear the same pads as a 6'5" guy that weighs 215.

Injuries with Marty and moose are just going to happen more frequent. If this injury lasts longer then expected or if he is bothered by it all year I don't think he returns. He went what 15 years without missing time due to injury now that he's older its going to happen more.

Come playoff time I do not want moose in net.
