The flip side of that is that Chip knows exactly what he would be getting with MM & doesn't want him because of that. It's speculation. But if you look at Phi recent moves, everything is pointing towards Chip not trading up for MM.

This goes back to not wanting to move up to #6 or higher, but if he falls to #10 the prices is significantly lower.

There are basically 2 lines of thought with Chip Kelly:

1) He is using Bradford to trade up
2) Bradford is there to stay and they already have their player targeted at the draft position they are at and expect him to be there.

All I know is that if the Titans pass on Mariota then Mariota sucks as a prospect or the Titans fail at drafting.

Sorry, but I watched Murrays press comments after he signed, he mentioned almost everyone but Sammie, he signed for the money and Philly does have some pieces to win, no where did I see that it was because of Sammie, oh but he did call him, I guess that convinced him? Really!

We got very lucky that Philly took Sammie off our hands, ya we got value out of him, but that's only because Philly overvalued him!
And if Coug is right, why are we only hearing about Cleveland wanting to trade for him, if everyone loves Sammie as Coug says, than there should be a butt load of other teams that want to trade their number 1 pick for Sammie! I mean why wouldn't you, he has played in 49 games over the past 6 years, what team wouldn't want to gamble on that? Oh that's right the Rams didn't want to anymore, because they actually knew what they "didn't" have in him! You would think other "smart" teams would see that a team that has seen Sammie over the past 5 years was willing to give up on him, must be a reason?

You don't think Tennesee , buffalo , Houston or the Jets etc would want him? Please! They don't have anything to give us in return. It wouldn't do the Rams any good to trade away their QB just for a pick because they would just have to hope to get a QB elsewhere. The Eagles had Foles to give us in return along with picks. You must concede Smed his talents are known thru the NFL. It's true.

If that was his goal, to wait till #10, he would have never made the Bradford/Foles trade before the draft.

I think with Manziel and even say RG3 it was different because Chip knows exactly what he is getting with MM so it really isn't a gamble. I agree I don't see another team moving up for him besides chip if he comes in range.

But again why would Chip even want MM when he already has a guy with all the talent that Sammie has?

The trade may not be an option on draft day. The Rams had other teams interested and wanted to get the deal done in time to make moves in FA. The Eagles would have had to pass over FA's despite having cap space in case they needed to make the Bradford trade. Bradford may be moved by then. There's no way to think that same trade would have been possible 7 weeks from now. If the Eagles don't make this trade and MM goes before #10 then they are back with Foles/Sanchez and didn't get either guy they had their eye on.

I never stated that Sammie didn't have trade value-first round or otherwise. Cougar was right about a couple of things and I gave him credit for those predictions Vita. In Cougar's OP and reiterated by Mutigers1fan, both suggested many teams were interested in Bradford. That is simply an exaggeration because there were maybe three to four teams interested: Cleveland, Philadelphia, Raiders, and possibly the Texans. That is approximately 13% of the NFL teams. That is not a huge interest pool fellas.

Retro, from what I've read, the Raiders are perfectly happy with the Franchise QB they already have! I think they will pick either White/Cooper, Carr had a decent rookie year, he just needs weapons now!

Same thing was said as Manziel was drafting. Do remember all the exacerbated looks all the "draft experts" faces were showing on TV with each pick after Bortles was taken? The look of total disbelief that teams would pass up on him. We know how that turned out.

It's all media hype at this point. No one outside of each team's inner circle, knows the grades teams have on MM. But there are tea leaves. The tea leaves were saying that Manziel was in for a drop. Those same tea leaves are saying the same thing about MM.

Because he is a crazy chip. That's the point of the post I think he thinks Sam can run it better then Foles but if MM falls far enough he can get his golden duck.

I don't know. He's smart. He can't move up in the draft as easy without Bradford. He knows he can land the 19th pick from the Browns to use as ammo. Also if he did go crazy and want to move up to 2 with tenn they would most likely want Bradford along with picks. He does give him more options if MM falls.

What?! That makes no sense. If MM is their ultimate goal, Chip would have waited for MM to drop & Bradford would have never been part of the trade. Chip wouldn't care if other teams were interested in Bradford if he wants MM. If MM is the goal for Chip, Bradford being on or not being on the Rams roster has no effect on his thinking.

If Chip wanted Bradford, why would he want MM? You can't have it both ways. Why take on Bradford's cap space for 2 months & let possible FA targets pass?

Well I guess since he mentioned almost everyone else but Sammie, I guess it was just a oversight on his part!
Since I didn't hear him mention Sammie, I guess we will just have to "assume" he was a big reason to go to Philly

Read the op. I try to explain the madness. On the cap space all I can say is we are talking about a guy that got rid of 3 All pros on offense in a blink of an eye. The Eagles still have cap space to sign people.

Well I 'did' hear him talk about it. I didn't hear his presser but not only did I hear Murray talk about Sam being a reason for him joining the Eagles, I heard Chip talk about that being a reason they were able to land him.

Then again, if you didn't hear it yourself, you can assume anything you want.

You need a contingency plan. MM may or may not be attainable. We won't know until draft day. Now he has a QB he likes, there's never just 1 guy you have your eye on, this leaves him options.

Yeah, those tea leaves are there for sure but I think it has more to do with RG3 and Kaepernick than Manizel.

I think any team can get an exciting QB out of MM in his rookie year in a dumbed down offense. I don't think that pathway leads to franchise QB development, though

I really thought your love for Sammie would subside at least a little after the trade, but I was wrong!

Sam and Murray were college roommates. There's no way 2 guys who lived together go to the same team in the same week without at least having a conversation.

Yes this is where they practiced their ball handling skilz :nono:
