5 or less TOs for Taylor??? HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!!!! This is a dude that has lead the country in fumbles every single year. He had 16 in 2010, 13 in 2011, and 16 in 2012. And that is not even counting the INTs!!!

Nebraska had 13 INTs. 7 of them happened in Nebraska territory and 6 were in the opponents territory. 7 of those INTs came on drives of 5 plays or more. 4 of them were on drives of 7 plays or more. The D gave up 6 TDs after those INTs. 1 of those was right after halftime were the D was plenty rested so not sure that one counts. The D did not allow any FGs after an INT.

Nebraska lost 22 fumbles last year. 11 in Nebraska's territory and 11 in the opponent's. 8 of those fumbles came during drives of 5 plays or more. 5 of those fumbles were on punt returns. The D gave up 7 TDs after the offense fumbled. The D gave up 2 FGs after the offense fumbled.

Absolutely....all those stats are exactly the reason I made this thread.

I want to know to what extreme would this team need to make changes in order to win it all.

In my opinion, if Taylor could minimize turnovers and maintain production at the same time, the sky is the limit.

My goal was to get everyone thinking outside the box.......because while it's easy to see a team giving up 63 points in a game, it's not always easy to see why and immediately we point to the Defense.

Yeah but in the 4 losses the D gave up 26 TDs total. Only 5 of those were after TOs. It isn't like the D is off the hook for those games.

Agreed. The Defense is not off the hook. However, all those quick turnovers early on in drives just put the Defense right back on the field without a chance to catch their breath.

You can really see it too when you look at the big guys up front.....by the 2nd quarter they're dragging ass

Oregon isn't turning the ball over and leaving their Defense in short field situations........thus there is no comparison there.

They run a fast uptempo , bottomTOP, and they have a undersized defense.

Sorry most teams rather beat their opponent not themselves....

I know that Oregon is up tempo......

I wasn't talking about up tempo teams though.......I was talking about up tempo teams that turn the ball over.

If you have an Offense that goes out on the field and runs 5 plays in 50 seconds and then turns the ball over, that means your Defense has to come right back out on the field without any time to catch their breath.

Oregon runs up tempo, but they also complete 80 yard drives and score giving their Defense at least a little time, not to mention scoring points gives your Defense some cushion.

When you're a Defense playing with a 22-0 lead, you have quite a bit of room. When you're a Defense playing from behind it is very difficult.

Jet Sweep Play

The offensive turnovers were not the reason that the jet sweep play worked over and over and over and over and over.

Honestly I just want this team to be mentally tough....

If I was an opposing team I know all I have to do with Nebraska is last long enough to land a haymaker and Nebraska will fold up. We get into battle and we start to fall apart when he need to be the strongest. Go back to the osu game were right there same with uga, and wisky.

If this team can be disciplined and mentally strong then we will win some trophies and get over the hump.

I just watched a replay of the Michigan State game from last year.......

Thee only way Taylor has 5 or less turnovers is if he loses the starting job and doesn't play.......

Anyways, my whole point to begin with was that I think we would run the table if he did take care of the ball this seasin.

So your synopsis = the more times we don't give the ball to the other team, the better chance we have of winning?

That is quite the amazing find you got there JJM. I am thinking someone needs to go to Bo with that kind of historic finding. Maybe we shouldn't talk about it on a public message board anymore in case other teams see this and try to copy it.

Dear Mr Beck,

Please don't let Taylor throw east/west toward sidelines. Odds are high for pick 6.

Limit him to short yardage north/south throws.

Thanks,
R_A

If you want to have your twitter name speed kills prove it

Feed bell turner AA big Q. Put zo and Wes in formation that can utilizing them now.
WR Screen bubbles sweeps reverses stacks. Let em have show off your weapons

Don't know that I've ever seen Taylor execute a screen well. It's something the qb has to let develop and usually ends up a clusterfuck.

I hear ya I hear ya......

I still think most people believe that if we have any kind of success on Defense this year we will just walk through our schedule.

I tend to believe that the turnovers are more of a problem than are the Defensive problems. The pick 6's last year put us behind the 8 ball big time.....yet folks just point to the missed tackles.

Shit, the way I see it Ohio State scored about 35 of their 63 points last year off of shit that didn't directly relate to our Defensive issues.

Not being a natural qb has a lot to do with that. A screen requires patience and touch.
