There's gonna be a game or two where Nebraska can't afford to turn the ball over period.

Yep bc split those In two division games and the season is done no champ game another Capitol one or maybe outback bowl.

To be honest in conference play were gonna need under 3

Offense is gonna have to be flawless because we don't know how the defense will be.

Well, the purpose of this thread actually was to bring up the discussion about how our Offense turning over the ball made our Defense look worse than it actually was last season.

I know a lot of people are gonna freak out and blow a gasket over this, but it is just simply the truth. It's Football 101. The Offense put the Defense in a lot of bad positions last season.

People don't realize how hard it is for a Defense who has to keep going right back out on the field.....

It's especially hard when you run a somewhat fast tempo Offense only to turn the ball over.

It is interesting looking at the games we were negative in turnover margin last season.....

UCLA -1 = LOSS
Ohio State -3 = LOSS
Wisconsin -3 = LOSS
Georgia -1 = LOSS
Arkansas State -2 = WIN
Wisconsin -1 = WIN barely (had to come from behind)
Northwestern -3 = WIN barely (had to come from behind)
Michigan State -1 = WIN barely (had to come from behind)

Every other game that we were not negative in we won by at least 2 scores with the exception of the Iowa game.....and there is an obvious reason why that game was low scoring.

Oregon hasn't been complaining about it .....

Think how good they would be if their offense wasn't scoring in under 2 min....

I get your point tho but the defense still has to be ready. Just like the offense shouldn't put their defense is a bad spot

Oregon isn't turning the ball over and leaving their Defense in short field situations........thus there is no comparison there.

I'll be honest, I think if Taylor was to stay under 5 turnovers on the season, we would either be undefeated or have 1 loss.......assuming the bulk of those could come in one game.

Taylor led the season in turnovers lost last year, and there is ample evidence to suggest that when we turn the ball over, the Defense struggles even more.

Stop turnovers = Nebraska gets better 10 fold all the way around. This goes for the Special Teams unit as well........no more fucking muffed punts.

Limit turnovers this season on Offense and we end up winning the BIG Championship. Bookmark that fucking shit.

If I were to tell you I won the lottery, what do you think the likelihood of me banging a supermodel ends up being?

Seriously, this is just a silly thread, sir!

Google is failing me because for whatever reason I can't find individual fumbles/lost for Martinez, but his picks have been 7,8,12 from 2010,2011,2012......We did fumble 35 times as a team last year and lost 22 of them.....so without even knowing about fumbles lost, he's never threw less then 5 picks a season.....

I know what you are trying to say, and I agree with you to an extent......the defense looks worse then they probably were due to such a high number of turnovers......I just don't know how you think that problem will all of the sudden go away, and especially to think our QB could possibly be less then 5 total turnovers for the season????? :laugh3:

It depends if all five come in the span of 2 games then we probably go 10-2, if they are strung out to 4 or 5 games I could see 11-1 and even 12-0. It also depends on how many turn into points the other way. A lot of variables.

It simply won't happen.

He will have 5 turnovers in the first 5 games.

less than 5 total turnovers, then I agree we could easily be 11-1. I'd love to see it happen, but honestly I'd just take less than 15 for the whole team.

5 or less TOs for Taylor??? HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!!!! This is a dude that has lead the country in fumbles every single year. He had 16 in 2010, 13 in 2011, and 16 in 2012. And that is not even counting the INTs!!!

Nebraska had 13 INTs. 7 of them happened in Nebraska territory and 6 were in the opponents territory. 7 of those INTs came on drives of 5 plays or more. 4 of them were on drives of 7 plays or more. The D gave up 6 TDs after those INTs. 1 of those was right after halftime were the D was plenty rested so not sure that one counts. The D did not allow any FGs after an INT.

Nebraska lost 22 fumbles last year. 11 in Nebraska's territory and 11 in the opponent's. 8 of those fumbles came during drives of 5 plays or more. 5 of those fumbles were on punt returns. The D gave up 7 TDs after the offense fumbled. The D gave up 2 FGs after the offense fumbled.

5 of those fumbles were on punt returns.

These are the ones that are definitely not acceptable. Taylor does need to get better at ball security, especially as a senior.

How many pick 6's or near pick 6's has he thrown over the years?

I think he's thrown at least one in every blow out loss.
