Last year he played bad for pretty much the whole game then completed a deep out to set up the game winning field goal. They are good enough to overcome his poor play.

I don't know about having to put up PB numbers...but just don't put the team in a position to lose. Take care of the ball, and the rest will take care of itslef.

He did throw for 278 yards last year for nearly 60% completion (I think 58%), while not great, it was the 2 INT's that hurt. Though, neither lead to any direct points, if I remember correctly.

If he can go in there and throw for 250-275 and a TD, or two, and ZERO turnovers...it will be on the defense then to win the game.

We'll see.....

Can we run in their house??? Thats the question...defense is still tough and Troy will be roaming....

The defense is not what it was.

The rushing defense is ranked 24th. They can be ran on.

They had a lot of problems matching up with Gio last time, and I would expect to see him out of the backfield in this game a bit more based on the past game tape. Their LB's simply can't matchup with him. They are going to double AJ.

The OL has to continue to smash it. They don't have a lot of depth, if any, along their front 7. If the Bengals can stay consistent, they will wear the defense down.

Emphatically yes!!!! With Whit manning LG we can run on anyone. And when Polamalu comes up, the play action passes should be wide open. Power traps and sweeps should go. Keep the ball and keep Ben cold on the sideline.

this has perplexed me for awhile...how does no one see him just RUNNING up to the LOS?!

If you just wait a beat before he gets to the line, then he has to stop, or he'll be off-sides.

I think that's usually the plan, to mess up his timing......it's hard for their secondary to rotate behind him though....someone has to be open.....

Primetime game, on the road, division rival, possible bad weather with snow or freezing rain, potentially 2nd seed on the line if NE losses to Miami earlier in the day.

I personally do not like our chances. Hope they prove me wrong though.

I don't know.... Normally I would say that I don't like our chances, but I think it's just tough for some of us to realize that Pittsburgh simply isn't that good. They lost home games to the Titans, Bears, and Dolphins this year. Their defense has been a shell of it's former self (40 points to the Bears, 50+ to the Pats, and 34 to the Dolphins). And now they don't have much to play for..... If the Bengals lose, it will have much more to do with a lack of focus than anything else.

If they keep their focus and play well they will be fine. They are the better team.

For Dalton it all comes down to how he plays in the postseason this year

This year is on Marvin as well..... You can make an excuse for 2005. We lost our best player on the 2nd offensive play of the game. You can almost forgive 2009 -- That team wasn't explosive at all and there were a lot of holes on that patchwork defense. 2011 was Dalton's rookie year and maybe the bright lights were too much..... I felt that the excuses ended last year though as we played a Texans team that had clearly lost their early season mojo. Barring disaster, we should be hosting a flawed team in a first round game (3-6 matchup) or maybe even a very beatable team in the conference semifinals (if we grab the 2 seed, we're likely looking at the Pats). If we're one and done again, Marvin is 0-5 in the playoffs. What's the most games a coach has in the playoffs without a win?

no idea, but Marv has had more control over this team than any coach the Bengals have had in decades, so we've been told.

He'll go when he retires, this is Cincinnati brother

Marvin's the second longest tenured coach (behind only Belichick) and he hasn't won a playoff game. a bunch of coaches with SB appearances and even SB wins have been fired during that time period. it's an unusual career..

For Dalton, what I meant is that don't think Sunday is a statement game. He could throw 5 TDs Sunday and it'd be forgotten if he has a bad game in round 1 of the post season.

At this point in his career he really needs to play well in the postseason.

Very true. If he were to win a playoff game and then lose (gamely) in the AFC championship, people would be writing about the Bengals as early favorites for the AFC next season.... Same personnel, key pieces healthy, 2nd year of Bernard and Eifert, etc..... If he loses in the first round of the playoffs, people will be writing about the need to draft/acquire a franchise qb. There basically isn't any middle ground here.
