So. Wtf does an NBA coach know about basketball when compared to Wiggy and his "guys who get paid to cover the NBA"?

The Cats were counting Whiteside blocks vs sheep last night to help them fall asleep.

No centers are perfect, and all have uneven nights, but Whiteside can dominate a game like no other when he's on.

Agree.

In all seriousness, I do understand some of Wiggy's point. Giving Whiteside a big contract is going to be something of a risk given his history. But, giving anyone a huge contract is always a gamble to some extent. There's always the chance that a guy can suffer a serious injury, doesn't fit well with the team that got him, or gets paid, decides he's "made it" and doesn't work as hard anymore.

Someone is going to take a gamble on him and give him a big contract. Whether it's Miami or someone else, unless he does something incredibly stupid or suffers a serious injury before FA, he's going to get paid. If the Lakers go after him, I'd prefer that it be something like 3 years with a team option on year 3, but I doubt anyone can get that.

But, if a team wants to have a shot at a title, they have to be willing to take some risks and spend some money.

His history is only things we've read about.
Not saying he isn't an oddball, but teams put up with a whole lot more nonsense from their better players then they would from a scrub.

He WAS considered a scrub until he revamped his career here last year.

I don't agree, at all, that once he gets paid he quits working.
He wants to be an all star, and more important wants his video game rankings to be high.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying that I think he will be one of those "I got paid, now I can relax" guys. Just that it's one of the risks that you take signing any FA, especially when it's their first big contract. From what I've read, heard and seen, it seems like he may have finally figured out that his God-given talent alone, isn't going to be enough. If that's the case, I think he'll be just fine.

i mean- this couldnt be a better illustration of EXACTLY what i was talking about....

ONE GAME....anecdotal evidence....quotes from guys that mean absolutely NOTHING in the grand scheme of things....i mean it just cracks me up.....this is the EXACT bullshiti was talking about- over reaction to one game, anecdotal evidence vs. cold hard objective fact built over time.

if Whiteside has a bad game a week from now should I have 15 posts acting like one game is the fucking be all end all? you guys are embarrassing yourselves with that shit.

its why i wrote- lets see by the end of MArch- an ACTUAL sample size- to see if the stats CONTINUE to say the HEat play better defense with him WITH HIS ASS stapled to the bench---- or if they are better with him on the floor.

I am SURE with all the articles that have come out recently- combined with how he was crying on twitter about criticism- we will WITHOUT A doubt get some good follow up stuff later on.

I thought he was already a proven fraud? :noidea:

:heh:

For sure, but this proves that either he believes what he's written on these 30 pages or he doesn't.

577 posts on this topic is embarrassing.

Rodman vs. Green only got 300 posts.
