McCoy was "solid" this season ... 4 hundred yard games and 5 combined TD's with one game left. He's 3rd in the league in rushing which looks good on the leaders board, but let's look a little further ...

The only player who's gotten more carries is Demarco Murray ... so while being 3rd in the league in rushing yards is nice, a lot of it has to do with simply getting a ton of opportunities. As far as yards per carry though he's 26th in the league at 4.1 per carry and that's despite not having many of those tuff short yardage carries which dip your average. His total TD # is rather low as well despite getting the 2nd most carries in the league. You want a Franchise type RB to have double digit "combined" TD's ... but because Shady goes down so easily he can't be a reliable goal line back.

Summary ... Shady is a very good all around Back, but he will be 27 next season and as Wings pointed out earlier he's lost a step. RB is the easiest position imo to replace and if a good trade offer were to come along, you can use that early pick on 2ndary which we desperately need as long as use his money to shore up other areas. While I would be just fine seeing him back next year, I wouldn't be heart broken if we get bowled over with a trade offer and draft a guy to fill his role.

You think turf toe has any bearing on that 4.1ypc? C'mon.

Kid's just 26, not like he's Lynch's age or 30 (magical number where a lot of backs start to decline).

If Shady's turf toe were that big of an issue it would be insane for Chip to give him the 2nd most carries of any RB in the league. Shady hasn't shown any signs of favoring the toe ... there's no limping or signs of any kind. Sometimes Backs simply slow down prior too their time ... with turf toe it would actually be easier for Shady to simply hit the hole. All that dancing and juking he does would aggravate that toe much more than one cut and go which is what he should be doing more often than not.

Nice bullshit excuses....Mccoy can't block and he has lost 2 steps over the course of the last 2 years...He huffs like a horse going 20 yards....he goes down when the wind blows....the old Mccoy did not...You want to live in denial you go ahead and do that, but even Brian Westbrook said he clearly can't break a tackle, he can't block, and he has no burst. He counts 12 million against the cap next year. Lynch made 6.5 mill with Seattle, and clearly won't make much more than that going forward because of his age (28)...I'll take that 5.5 million in savings and go fill some other needs. Yeah I'm talking nonsense, but you will see how nonsense it is when Chip Kelly does just that.

First of all, i gave one excuse--and it's legit. I also find it funny you think he declined the year he lead the league in rushing and was an all-pro. Seriously?

My objectivity has nothing to do with denial. I'm not married to McCoy by any means and like Swat said, for a 1 & 3 sure i'll trade him.

But you wish to switch to an OLDER running back with MORE mileage, that's just stupid, even for you.

Getting rid of good players usually isnt the way to become a great team. Unless they are locker room cancers.

Look at New Orleans.

It basically tells the rest of the team, that once you start getting paid at a premium rate, we'll send you packing. We are already gonna be letting go of Cole, Williams & possibly Ryans & Celek as well. Not a good idea to send McCoy on his way as well. All this only a year after just cutting Desean & then combing back & destroying our DBs. lol.

The players will think Chip & co. dont know shit & this whole thing will blow up. It is already teetering imo. 4 straight losses after 9-3 stinks like something is going on in that locker room.

It could happen..but I wouldnt wish it to happen.

* McCoy is a team first player. Dude is the reigning rushing champ & all time Eagles rusher & Chip takes him out to put Polk in at the 1 yard line & he doesnt complain. Games he gets less carries, he doesnt say shit.

* Never throws players under bus including terrible OL early in season. He is an asshole? He certainly doesnt show it to the media.

* Still gets plenty on his own. The Defenses are stacked to stop him & the OL even going back to last year hasnt been all-world like some seem to think.

* Probably was dealing with injury. Certainly was dealing with death in family.

* After all that still has 296-1220-5 through 15 games. Oh wait, so he doesnt miss games either?

The Eagles Offense runs through LEsean McCoy. If people think you can just plug any ole RB into his spot & we are just as good, they are plain crazy. #1, team wont respect the running game nearly as much andd that will hurt whatever QB is in there. Not good if its someone we already have & #2, very few RBs would have done nearly as well behind this OL & with teams stacked to stop him.

Is he as good as he was last year? No...but there are some factors to consider. Doesnt seem like some of you are considering them...maybe you just dont like him? IDK..but Chip better be smart about this & if he does get rid of him he better replace him with a stud & be getting Mariota as well. If not...Chip can kiss my ass & go back to college.

It's a bullshit excuse! If it were legit Chip would not have rode him like a $2 hooker! Ya see that run lynch had last night??? Yeah u keep talking your nonsense and make excuses for McCoy. 12 million dollars tied up in a guy that can't even get us 1 damn yard when we need it!

That is your argument??? How about he led the league in attempts??? How about Lynch was #2 with an o-line that was not as good as ours, and with less attempts... Oh and several more Td's.

The main question I have for guys who want to trade McCoy, is why didnt Polk get more carries THIS SEASON?

Is Chip an idiot? Whats your reasoning for this?

If u think it was to keep McCoys value as high as possible...I call bull shit.

How about trading Shady to the Redskins...for DeSean Jackson? We need a speed receiver who can stretch the defense.

omg.. can you imagine the reaction this fanbase would have if that actually happened? Nothing the Eagles do surprises me anymore.. We took the title away from Dallas in regard to winning games in December. This thread has me laughing because Shady is the least of our worries. Draft picks, especially in the 1st round, historically have been terrible picks for us, trading or cutting Shady doesn't resolve shit, except for needing to replace another hole. Keep in mind, Chip is playing with mostly Andy Reid's garbage (exception of Shady).:suds:

Swat - You know how much I wanted Shady when he was at Pitt.....but you can not tell me you don't see how he clealry has lost a step or two and his jukes even have lost some....he has lost his power as well, the cat can't break tackles anymore. This isn't about the player he was, because clearly he was extraordinary. Now, he isn't so amazing, and has relinquished his goal line carries. Yet, the man gets paid 12 mill per....That is a whole lot of money for rb that doesn't look so "special" anymore. That is a whole lot of money we can dedicate to fixing HUGE holes on defense.

I can see where you are coming from, no doubt about it but Id have a hard time trading him if we are not getting Mariota AND getting a stud RB in the draft. Which basically leaves nothing for D.

I dont think this is a situation where you just want to get rid of him for anything you can. Is that your position?

Lets assume its not in a Mariota trade. Who are you trading McCoy to? And for how much? Because I think that matters a ton. Gotta remember at his price tag/age/wear..you are not getting much more than a 2nd..if that. You willing to trade him to Seattle? Green Bay? NYG? Detroit? ZOna? Does a crap team even want him at that salary? The options for a trade would be fairly slim I think because of his salary/age/wear.

What if the best you can get is a 3rd? Is that worth it to you?

Gone...wow...I've seen enough of Shady to agree with some of the complaints about his running style, but the guy is a playmaker...imo Sproles is the problem...not Sproles the player, but he's too similar in style to Shady.

PHI is just going for too much splash from the position.

I think you have to pair Shady with a power RB that only needs 10-12 touches a game...a Blount type RB.

I've always wanted a smash mouth RB in the mold of Marshawn or Bettis so I'd be ok moving McCoy provided the proper upgrades are made. Right now I have an issue of trust with the FO. I'm anxious to see what this off season brings.

McCoy leads the league this year in negative runs. Now some of that is the predictability of Kelly's offense (2nd and 10 after an incomplete pass bet on a run to the right), a lot of that is McCoy trying to make too much out of a small hole.

And none of it is the injuries to the offensive line or teams better understanding how to attack the offense.

Look I get it the guy can cut and juke and do some of that Barry Sanders shit blah blah blah....The guy is a Fuckin asshole, and surely not a team player. He can't block worth a Shit, he goes down when you pull his shoe lace, and he can't break a tackle. I don't want all that flash and Dancin with the stars shit, I want a Marshawn Lynch...When I need a yard I want a RB that is gonna get me a yard. I want a RB with Speed, Shady runs and huffs like a Fuckin Cydesdale. He can't outrun anyone, he lost his burst to the hole, he constantly jump cuts when the Fuckin Hole is right there in front of him for 5-6 yards! Instead, he keeps trying to hit the homerun!
I'd sooner take his Fat cap Dollars, and go sign a Veteran CB like Revis to work with the young Cb's I'm gonna draft. Hell, we will be a shitload of money under the cap once we let Trent Cole walk might as well sign Marshawn Lynch. Now there is a guy that is a money back!

Still pissed off he ignored you and your buddies eh.

I guess you can't read... It wasn't me. I'm pissed he can't get a yard... I'm pissed I watch him do dancin with the stars each week... I'm pissed he can't throw a block, and I'm pissed that he carries the ball like a loaf of bread. I'm pissed he goes down when the wind blows, and I'm pissed that he can't catch the damn ball anymore either. I'm pissed that he runs 20 yards across the field for a 3 yard gain, after dancin with the stars, an he is Huffin wind like a Clydesdale... All that and I'm pissed we have so many holes to fill and Mr Clydesdale I making 12 mill or year.

I am not happy with McCoy but I am not sure I am ready to see him go yet. I am hoping we see Barkley and Polk the whole game against the Giants.

Here's the thing ... if you are not going to use Shady on 3rd downs and he's not a good goal line Back then why should you use 12 mil in cap space on him? If Chip's philosophy is for Backs to have certain roles and not have one guy be "the guy", then it's not worth using up 12 mil of cap space on him. If you trade him for say a late 1st or a mid 2nd round pick, you save yourself a ton of money to go get 2ndary help in free agency and have an extra 2nd rounder to address the situation even further if need be (and we certainly need a few). RB is the easiest position on the field to replace ... you can find guys between Rd 2-4 in every draft who you can plug in. Justin Forsett Rd 7, Arian Foster Undrafted, Alfred Morris Rd 6, Jamal Charles Rd 3, Joique Bell Undrafted, Demarco Murray Rd 3, CJ Anderson Undrafted, Latavious Murray Undrafted, Tre Mason Rd 3 etc ... etc ...
