I still think Taylor gives us the best shot at winning

I feel like I am the only one who didn't grab ahold of Tommy's nutsack after the SDSU game.

That Defense that he went up against that day pales in comparison to any Defensive unit that he faces in practice during the week......and that is sayin somethin cuz our Defense sucks.

All I'm sayin is, I got absolutely nothing out of that game. Taylor has experience coming from behind in big games and right now he is the more effective passer. He may not be the better passer technique-wise, but there is a reason he was #1 in the country the last 2 seasons when Beck kept the passing game within 10 yards of the line of scrimmage.

I liked the playcalling a lot better in that SDSU game......I think a healthy Taylor would have thrived in that setting.

Tommy looks promising mechanically, but I don't understand the nuthugging.

Actually, I sorta do understand the nuthugging......

Everyone just wants something positive to look forward to and he is the next pipe dream

Martinez should start when he is healthy. He wasn't for the UCLA game, and Bo should have at least tried TA, in the second half. If he is not 100% this week, then maybe TA should start. I don't think we should lose this game even if Taylor starts, but why not let him get all the way back, with more rest. The tougher games are coming up.

sorry JJM but call me a nuthugger. I'm for TA from here on out. If Taylor starts then fine but I think we have an overall better chance with Tommy.

I think for me; it was more the fluidity of the offense and it didn't seem to matter which qb was in there. TA or RKIII. The offense just seemed to flow, rather than look all stumbly & bumbly.

You mentioned TM has more experience in games coming from behind. Now, don't get me wrong; but it seems like the games we came from behind, TM was more than likely the reason we got there to begin with. Granted not all, but a lot.

I really don't care who starts; as long as the team executes, & that's the bottom line.

The SDSU game didn't sway me at all.

I have been saying for months and months that if we had a coach that actually allowed real QB competition then Armstrong could beat out Taylor. I am all about Armstrong and it has nothing to do with the SDSU game.

Hard to say which one has more to offer, JJM. We know a lot about Taylor that we haven't had a chance to see from Tommy.

Taylor Positives

He's a senior.
He likely knows more of the offense (the X's and O's) because he's been in the system longer.
He is faster when healthy.
Has more game experience.
Bangs a volleyball player.

Taylor Negatives

Turnover prone.
Lack of touch limits the throws he can make.
Needs open field to run.
Lacks game aptitude (decision making).
Haste in letting things develop.
Has monkey ears.

Tommy Positives

Natural dual threat in that he can get tough yards on a 3rd and 2 type situation.
Has touch on his throws.
Big arm.

Tommy Negatives

RS Freshman.
Likely knows less of the offense (X's and O's).
Slower.
Less game experience.
Too much air under his throws at times.
Unknown intangibles

Feel free to add things I missed.

Taylor starting DOES give us the best opportunity to win games...but not because he is a better athlete by any means. If Armstrong became the starter (which he should be, and would most likely beat Taylor in a QB competition) it would divide the team leadership. Taylor is a senior and 'team captain', now if he wasn't a team captain I'd sit him on the bench without hesitation, however I think the coaching staff pinned Taylor as the starter even if injured bullshit because he has a C patch on his jersey. Only way Taylor doesn't play is if he himself decides to sit out looking for the teams best interest as their 'captain.'

He shouldn't play hurt. It's that other dimension that makes him dangerous.

Healthy, I totally agree.

I was expecting this post to come up

But the best the offense has look this year was when tmart was out
Yes it was against a fcs but we've played Wyoming so miss ucla so really only 1 legit team

It's clear opponent have figure out the game plan to stop tmart, and it's clear he doesn't do well in big games
This year 3 if beck year 4 of starting for Neb and the offense hasn't been on fire like we expected
Why?!?

The excuse tmart always got was he was the only option the backup suck or aren't ready
Well guess what we have decent back ups and options and they looked good/fundamentally sound.

My question is what the excuse now? We have rb wr a decent OL and yet same mistakes happen. I've watch tamu play outside of mike Evans we have better wr and rb wise I like our group over malena Williams and Carson and yet manziel put up stupid numbers !

Ain't no reason tmart isn't running for 100 yard an throwing for 250-300 a game with talent around him

So with that being said TA should start and let's see how he does
People forgot tmart was a RS freshman when he beat out zac lee
Tmart isn't as explosive anymore and his turnovers or dumb and old now

My last point if were gonna down play the offense that last game then white flag should be up for the defense since a fcs put up over 400 one week and didn't put any rush yard the next can't have it both ways

Our offense thought they were going to be wicked good this year, that was due to scrimmaging against our defense. Our defense thought they were going to be ok this year, that was due to scrimmaging against our offense with Tito at QB.

I understood where you were coming from until you said taylor is the more effective passer. Then I just :L

It's simple to comprehend really......

In 2011 and 2012, not one single QB in the entire country was more efficient than Taylor Martinez in the intermediate passing game. Taylor was #1..........numero uno...........the best..........the ultimate...........the Heisman if you will, at passing "effectively" in College Football. 1-10 yards is where it's at in College Football. It's how good teams succeed.....like Stanford for instance.

In College Football, the intermediate passing game is all you need to compliment a good rushing attack. Deep passes are a luxury at this level, not a necessity. This isn't the NFL. Keep things simple on Offense, and you succeed.......as we did against SDSU. Taylor would have torched that SDSU Defense given that gameplan that Beck called.

Taylor Martinez made several bad throws in the game against UCLA, but Tim Beck is the one to blame for that. The intermediate passing game opens up the deep passing game........not the other way around. We didn't need to be lobbing up hail mary's to try and quickly regain momentum.......but we did anyways.

The facts are the facts. It is what it is. Taylor Martinez completes 85% of his passes between 1-10 yards.............................................so don't fucking throw deep 5 out of 6 plays just because UCLA takes a 3 point lead in the 3rd quarter.

Keep it simple.......and Taylor Martinez is one of, if not the most, effective QB's in College Football.

He is #1 in the country over the past 3 years in passing 1-10 yards!!!

It's a statistical fact!

I am not just saying this shit for the hell of it. Taylor Martinez actually was more efficient and effective than all of them in the intermediate passing game in the past 3 seasons. That includes Teddy Bridgewater and all of the rest of them.

STATISTICAL FACT! He was #1.

1620 were the people to break the news to me.......

I am just relaying it to the rest of you.

Not one single name sits above Taylor. Not one.
