Yea AngeLakeRams. If the Rams want a future HOFer at RT, it would behoove them to take Matthews for a lot of reasons I already elluded to in the first post. Whether they get both Matthews and Wadkins remains to be witnessed.

If you are referring to Barksdale. The jury is still out on him even though his play is pretty solid and getting better. They could probably get Kouandjio in the latter part of the first round and that may indeed be the better fit. Like I said, I'll take either Matthews or Kouandjio at this point along with Wadkins.

Watkins would have to be the first pick and hope that Kouandjio fell to them with their second 1st rounder. I would be okay with that. I just don't see spending a high first on a RT when they have a second 1st rounder or could address the position in the 2nd.

How many RT's in this league were top 10 picks? I counted 5 ( and 3 of them are rookies- Fisher, Johnson and Fluker, he was taken 11th so I counted him ). The other 2 are Andre Smith and Anthony Davis ( who was also taken #11 ). Only 2-3 others were taken in the first round. It's historically been a position that can be addressed later without risking a high draft pick.

Only reason he's not on the field on 1st down is that the Rams haven't figured out how to run the ball without extra blockers. They could just as easily (in theory, although they haven't really tried it) spread out the defense with 4 wides (or 3 + Cook/Kendrick) and run through the gaps. Ball control and safe play worked this weekend though.

thats because defense coordinators know Schotty is going to call 5 to 7 yard routes 95% of the time. Everyone is sitting up in coverage most of the time. Sad thing is the only reason why he changed his game planning recently is because Fisher made him. He's a knuckle head.

Without question if Matthews ends up as a Ram, Jake Long moves to RT the next day. If they end up with Lewan or Kouandjio, those guys will play RT and Long will stay on the left. Matthews is Joe Staley, Joe Thomas and what Jake Long WAS coming out of Michigan. He will be an ALL PRO for years.
As for the WR question if neither Sammy Watkins or Marquise Lee are available with the 2nd #1, we do NOT reach for a WR. You can easily go S or OLB with that pick and get instant starter.

The Rams have a fair contingent of receivers right now. I like the talent we already have. The problem is we have an OC who doesn't know how to utilize a hair dryer let alone offensive talent. The other problem is that we have a QB who just doesn't have the mentality to be anything more than mediocre. We could have Jerry Rice on our team and it wouldn't make a difference at this point.

I’m one who has said Sam can play better but some of you take things to the extreme. He’s fifth in the league in TD passes and tied for second in fewest interceptions. He’s doing what the coaching staff wants him to do. Play conservative, don’t turn the ball over and make plays in the red zone.

What I don’t understand about this thread is why would the Jags want to trade their only weapon on offense???

Long would stay at LT. Matthews hadn't even played LT at A&M until this season (Joeckel was LT). He would be a great fit as he already has experience at LT and a lot of experience at RT. He would start at RT and transition to LT as Long is eventually phased out.

I would still rather Snead trade our late 1st round to the Jags for Blackmon. I would be okay with Mathews from A&M and Just Backmon.

Blackmon>>Lee and Watkins

I would argue that Blackmon has potential to be better than Dez Bryant.

Anyone see the piece on NFL Network where the analyst picked the first third of the season All-Rooks Team. Terrance Williams made it and Larry Warford O-guard from Kentucky taken in the third round is having a ROY performance. Another O-lineman we whiffed on!!

Smed I agree but you wouldn't draft Az Hakim at #9 overall. :gaah:

Absolutely would not draft him that high, I just thought you were kind of bad mouthing Az Hakim. I see you were just kind of making the comparison between him and Austin, and right now that is a pretty fair comparison.

As long as we are just wishing, why are we wishing for Blackmon, I wish we had Calvin Johnson!

Not at all. Az was a big piece to the puzzle as a 3rd or 4th WR. My point was you don't draft a slot guy that small in the top 10 who won't start.
