Watching Carolina/Duke last night on ESPN without him just did not seem right.

I think it means he's just not on the first team anymore that announces the "prime time" games.

Yeah basically he is no longer on the "A" team. They replaced him with Bilas as they gave Bilas a huge contract extention a few months ago. It explains why he no longer does the prime time saturday night games either.

I don't think he is pleased about it. He is constantly retweeting users who are making reference to missing him in prime time.

Even with the "demotion" he still should have been allowed to announce Duke v UNC games. I get why people don't like him and I can agree with them, however he is part of the rivalry

I can't even take Dickie V's voice on NCAA bball 09 on XBOX, much less live. I'd rather turn down the TV and listen to music until the game is almost over.

I like Dickie V and I appreciate his enthusiasm and genuine love for the game. I think college basketball is better if he is involved in some way shape or form. That said, his shtick can wear thin over the course of a 2+ hour broadcast. I like him better in small doses.

Bilas is probably my favorite color commentary guy on ESPN, but he seemed a bit out of his element in the Duke/UNC game. I think he actually let his desire to be as unbiased as possible dampen his enthusiasm a little.

Whatever you feel about him, he has been a great ambassador for the game of college basketball. I know, he is awful sometimes. I get that. He's sort of like Jay Bilas except Jay has this younger appeal edge. And I like Good Jay Bilas. Analytical, measured, sharp witted, persuasive, effective, and fluent Jay Bilas is the Jay Bilas I like. But sometimes Bad Jay Bilas shows up. He bends over backwards to make sure you notice he isn't biased for Duke in any way, shape, or form. So much so that he is biased in the opposite direction. That's the Jay Bilas I don't care for hearing.

overrated bag of hot air. terrible coach...people overlook his demand for bob mcadoo from the celtics for ML carr and 2 first round picks. he set detroit back 3-4 years. one of those first rounders...became the #1 overall, thanks to detroit sucking so bad.

that draft, after trades, etc...landed the celtics robert parrish and kevin mchale.
