The guy has crushed three balls tonight, and made a couple of decent plays in right field. Asche smoked a ball down the right field line, and worked the count in another at-bat, working out a walk. His range has also looked great. Thank God we have a rookie coming up and producing, because if he fails, ruben just assumes that that's how all rookies are going to perform, and will be even more reluctant (if that's possible) to call up rookies.

he wasn't ready to start the season with the phillies because he only hit a total of 51 HR's last year (combined AA, phillies, and winter ball), delmon young was coming after the first month or so and he played better defense than ruf, we had stevie nix and mayberry platooning, then he hit a walk off grand slam in spring training and the very next day he was sent to lehigh.

I am thoroughly pleased with Asche tonight. He had 2 hits and 2 runs with 3 at-bats. Its early, but it is encouraging to see this kid can play at this level with this team.

We held off a late innings run by the Cubbies for a 1-run win. But again, Asche played pretty darn well tonight and I hope he continues.

I'd like to see how a lineup does with Revere, Ashe, Ruf, and Brown playing alongside competing regulars Utley, Howard, Rollins, Delmon, and Ruiz, and with Franco battling for a spot. That will be something to see I suppose in September.

Ruf is the kind of hitter the Phillies have needed for a couple years. Citizens Bank park is built for guys that can hit home runs and draw walks. All of their better offensive teams had guys in the middle like Burrell, Abreu and Werth that would see a bunch of pitches, draw some walks, score runs and hit home runs.

i see fat delmon started over asche tonight? lolollll. 2 times sitting in the last 3 games. worthless cunts in charge. i hope the attendance drops another 6k next year. better yet, i hope the flyers and eagles do enough to win back the philly majority that hopped on the phils wagon in 2008 and have occupied it since.

Here is another dope I don't understand why the FO office continually keeps this guy around? When you have a guy like Asche, instead of starting the guy, they go to a complete absurd platoon strategy. This is more than a brain fart. This is a fundamental collapse in sensible, effective baseball strategy that points to brain-dead in the front office and Manuel on the field. This team needs a complete make-over.
