Oh.
It's a shame there isn't a beer forum to post about it, though. :p
I kid, of course, Ghost. I saw that you thought it was a good idea.
Anyway, I made a cinnamon ale, full mash. There were 11 lbs of grains. Unfortunately, when I tasted the wort, it seemed a little dilute, but the taste that was there was great. In five weeks, I'll be sure to let you all know how it turns out. I'm pretty excited about it.
We ran into the problem, though, that the grains didn't all fit in one sock. So we made up two socks. But they didn't both fit in the same brew pot. So we ran two brew pots. But I'm afraid the two socks were too densely packed to release their full flavors, and that might be why it seemed (and potentially might turn out) too dilute. The specific gravity was also awfully low (a mere 1.030), so that might not be a very good sign.
On the plus side, it smelled wonderful. I doubled-up the cinnamon and changed all the grains to Belgian grains, and I also hopped with cinnamon for a half hour longer than the recipe called for, so I hope I reap the benefits of my little tweaks. Of course, if it is too dilute, none of that will matter anyway.
I have pictures of a few stages of the brewing process if anyone's interested. I can also share the recipe, as well as a couple other recipes, if anyone's interested.
