Thanks guys the point of this election is to reduce the name calling and bullshit that happens in every thread.

I know I have gotten into it in some GDT's etc with a lot of you., That is the passion of sports and your team. I admit that I see in Black and gold glasses.

The political forum I see things a bit different. I like the debates and actually learning from others. I am at least as passionate about that as I am my Bruins.

If you want to make that forum better, ban Juice and LOC from posting and it will improve 50% overnight.

I'd be a terrible moderator there, because there are some bad posters that are both liberal and conservative, but some of the conservatives are hilariously stupid. And I don't say that because I think ALL conservatives are stupid by ANY means or that intelligence is related to party/viewpoint - it's not. It just happens that the biggest dummies in are small sample at SportsHoopla are mostly conservatives. Some of my best friends are conservatives and we have great debates on religion, politics, etc. But I'm not sure some of the people on there even graduated middle school.

I once asked myself the same question.

My conclusion was that I can come to one site and have discussions about a lot of thing I like or believe in. Th Guns/Shooting forum for instance. I am aware that not everyone likes guns and shooting but I am very much n favor.


Basically I can come to one site and have reasonable discussion about a lot of topics.

then they really ought to consider a name change of the site itself

Why does a sports website have a politics forum?
Isn't that like Starbucks having a hibachi chef? Doesn't seem to fit with the mission statement.

I asked the same thing,when I first joined,and really didn't get a straight answer.
Was more or less told by GITM and others that it was too popular, for site to get rid of.

I can agree with that,so I have no problem with it.

Why does a sports website have a politics forum?

I think it makes sense b/c you have a community of people that like talking to each other. And when it's the offseason, or the Manti T'eo thing has died down, it gives you a place to talk with those people. So personally, I get why we have it.

It's just that the community I like talking with is largely the hockey one, which makes up a small part of the Politics forum.

LOC and Juice do push it to the extreme I admit. I take the post by them with a grain of salt. I try not to let them get under my skin. In fact I do not think I have argued with either in quite a long time.

On the other hand they are not dopes. They do bring some good stuff to the table from time to time.

We basically want to do away with the BS that happens in all threads so people like you can come and make a point and not get berated for 3 pages. I have seen your posts and if you recall..I defended you as being a smart guy even if i disagreed with your point.

That is what is all about in my mind. I love to learn from others.,Even if it does not fit into my world I respect that point of view.
