So I bought a whole chicken from Baker's the other day, open it up to bake it today and there are no innards in the cavity

I like to bake the heart, liver, and gizzards, chop them up fine, and add them to the homemade gravy.

I've seen those here too. I think it's Purdue "Ready to Roast". Comes in a bag and doesn't have the organs.

This was just a regular Kroger Value Whole Chicken. Was unfrozen and sealed in plastic. $4.80

My mom or grandma would have taken it back and beat them about the head and shoulders with it.

THIS fer sure. Set a long term (5-10) year goal as to starting your own company using your experience to avoid pitfalls in your own company. I dont recommend pig farming though. You spend alot of time eating alone and overhearing "what is that smell"

My understanding is that you live disciplined and reasonably. ie..drive used cars en sech

Open an Ameritrade Roth account, learn how to value stocks, and start throwing what you can in there every payday. I assume the state has a 401K equivalent where they match a percentage of what you put in, up to a certain percentage. If they'll match you dollar for dollar @ 5%. Put 5% in there and the rest in the Roth so it's tax deferred.

You can theoretically retire by 40. That time goes fast. Trust me.

Your state job is more secure than blue collar work.

now this is real sound advise thar stool --- i wished I had followed this

but was a fool and started a company with no plan at all

skool you just started this job. You are on the bottom rung. You can go get a blue collar job but I guarantee you unless you got family running the company you will be on the bottom rung there to.
Unfortunately the bottom rung gets shit splattered on it all the time but I guarantee you the blue shit is messier then the white shit.

And R_A is dead on. You will never have the security and the benefits in another job that you have in a government job.
