Giants are famous for this..Love how Witten went right at the Ref and said he was faking it. I agree with who said the injured player needs to miss time. Maybe not the entire drive, but at least till the offense gets another 1st. Players who cramp up and need some stretching and water, should not miss the rest of the drive. They would never see the field when teams like the Broncos have their famous 8min drives..LOL

Teams also have to live with their fake injuries being recorded forever:

Great point. I just think and I am fairly certain this scheme does allow for an unfair advantage. A lot more energy is expended on defense.

It's an advantage but it's not unfair. Either both teams substitute, or neither do. Why do you think more energy is expended on defense? Is it somehow more tiring for a defender to run 20 yards than it is for an offensive player?

I think we have to come to terms that no one will be scared of defenses anymore. Maybe in the playoffs if the refs swallow the whistle a little bit

Well they are not scared now, the league has set it up so the offense has a lot more advantages.

In the course of a series defenders have to play the run oft times that means CB and safeties sprinting up to help out on a tackle while TEs and WRs can take that play off. And it seems that LBs and D Line have to cover and pursuit a lot more the O Linemen have to chase down blocks. Just the way it seems to me.

Anyone watch the Florida Flop? That's worse than any defense faking injuries. The whole team flopped down so they could get the ball back so their QB could set a passing record.

Nearly every rule change since the dawn of football has benefitted offenses. The trend continues.

I am of the opinion that the league really is set up to support the offense and most rules and decisions seem to benefit the offense. Lately a lot of teams are going to a hurry up offense which basically does not allow the defense to sub. To combat that defenses are faking injuries to slow things downs, bring in subs etc, this is becoming a vicious circle. Does the league need to address this? Is this hurry up fare to defenses? Should the league have a flop policy and will the policy once again benefit the offense?

Let's debate it.

never will change. the league wants points... They don't care about defense...

Um, NFL teams wouldn't do it if more energy wasn't expended on defense

Some positions, maybe, like qb, they don't expend as much energy as defenders do. But I don't think a corner necessarily expends more energy on a play than a receiver does.

also, they will never stop "protecting" the QB. yes I know Brady gets a lot of calls but its not just him.

Making a player sit out 3 plays instead of 1 would help deter that.
