Maybe he's from the Belichick garden? Not sure why people keep saying “Vrable is of the Belichick tree”. He is not. He played but never coached with Belichick.
Is Kevin O’Connell with the Belichick tree?

Is Kevin O’Connell with the Belichick tree?
Is he a real threat to Patriots GM Eliot Wolf, who didn’t exactly build a great roster for Jerod Mayo last year? That remains to be seen, but clearly Cowden is a Vrabel hire.
If the FA is successful trading may make sense but there are 4 or 5 guys if available I would like to see drafted. No one knows for sure.........

Much are quotes by Teddi Bruschi who believes that Vrabel would not take the job if he didn't have the final say on personnel and players. Bruschi based everything on personal conversations with Vrabel before he interviewed.
1. If a coach doesn't agree about signing a player and he fails, that coach will have zero respect for the person who brought him in and will not be able to work with him in the future. It will create a division that will effect the team. The coach must have the final say.
2. Vrabel says that he will be turning the screws as far as discipline is concerned. If a player doesn't want to follow Vrabel's programs and rules, he will sit down with that player and ship his ass somewhere else or just cut him loose. He will not tolerate any mutinous activity.
3. He will not publicly discuss who he has been talking with about taking coaching positions. He will give the OC and DC the freedom to bring in the staffs that they need to get the job done. Again, Vrabel will have the final say after discussions with the coordinators.
4. Vrabel will be very active when the free agent market is open for business.. Neither he or his staff will discuss anyone that they may be looking at or may have previously spoken with, prior to coming o the Patriots.
5. The Scouting staff has already put together a list of the draft eligible players that will be even more carefully scouted at the Senior Bowl, other senior activities and the Combine. The list ill be tiered and depending on free agent signings, the priorities on the list will change.
6. The Patriots have the #4 pick in the first round of the draft. If free agent signings are highly successful, Vrabel, according to Bruschi will be open to trading it or even drafting a player to be traded either during the draft or after the draft.
He said, and I quote.....It appears Vrabel will have a big hand in selecting the rest of his coaching staff with his new franchise.
I am okay with this, AVP just seemed lost at time with play calls. But neither will be worth a shit unless they get at least one WR that can get seperation and fix the awful lineWelcome home Josh.
