I have a coffee maker that automatically measures out the beans, so I couldn't tell you how many scoops I put in anymore. Used to be 1 scoop per cup being made. I put about 5 scoops of beans into the grinder for my 8 cup french press.

I'm around the 1-2 tbsp variety I would think. I usually just grab a spoon and get one scoop for every cup. They aren't exactly measured scoops tho

The fork must stand up in my coffee. I use about a tablespoon per cup, the darker the better.

I use one of them gevalia scoopity thingamummies, not sure how much it holds, but I do one scoop per every 2 cups on the carafe. It's the brown plastic cone-shaped one, pictured here:

BUT, I also use an espresso-grind coffee like Caribe or Bustello, and it makes a really nice cup o joe with the measurements I'm using. Generally 6 cups of water, 3 scoops of Bustello, in a cheap auto-drip mr. coffee knockoff. Good enough for me.

When we have used other grinds, like Kirkland, we have found that we have to use more scoops or it's pretty weak.

Love Bustelo coffee. That stuff is awesome and has a bit of a kick for a home brewed pot.

Heck yeah, plus it's very reasonable.

Right now in our life, we need cheap and simple. Maybe when the kids are grown, we'll go back to grinding our own gourmet beans, etc.

My fiancee came home with it and I asked her why she was buying the expensive stuff. Then I figured out it costs about the same as Folgers

I was getting pound bags from different roasters for years until recently. Now I get a big ol bag from BJs and throw that into my burr grinder. I can't tell the difference and it is much cheaper

Oh, we used Folgers for a while, too...and the whopping-big can of Maxwell house...basically every brand that's out there at some point or other. But we eventually settled on the espresso grind stuff because of the kick and the price. One of our Dominican friends got us into it.

They use that Folgers shit at work...I make my own at home and bring it in a thermos...the best thing I have found Folgers to be good for is as a soil amendment in the garden

Same here. I have a melita grinder somewhere in the cabinets, I brought it into the marriage from single days. We used it for a while until the second child, usually with costco beans or something from the local coffee shops.

I like having a gourmet cup every now and then, but usually the price just seems too much greater than the difference in taste.

I also used to have an espresso/cappucino maker, but that one didn't make it into the marriage because of space issues. I think I gave it to my former roommate, or maybe I put it on the curb...

LOL...

I bring my second cup to work in my thermos, too. The office uses something slightly better than Folgers, but the setup is weird and the coffee doesn't come out right. They have these bigass thermal carafes, and the water is automatically programmed to fill them up, but it means we have to put a packet and a half of grounds into the basket.

Every day, somebody makes a pot with either too many grounds, or not enough, and we get weak shit or lots of black dots in the bottom of our cups.

Still, free is free.

I don't measure. Pour beans in grinder, then dump into coffee maker..today's pot seems a little stronger than usual.

I eyeball it in the grinder I base it off of how full it is compared to the blades. I couldn't tell you how many tablespoons per cup I use at all.
