I freakin' hate Roger Goodell! The Bengals start out the season with 3 of 4 games on the road then end with 3 of 5 games on the road at the Chargers (I plan on being at that game), Philly and the Steelers. It seems like he goes out of his way to find a way to screw the Bengals.

No matter which way you slice it, it would be a tough road. Those are a lot of good teams.

I can't believe they couldn't even give us the Oakland game on primetime TV.

I'm not exactly sure how he screwed the Bengals last season when we had three of our last four at home and the one road game was against St. Louis. It's really not a conspiracy.

As for the schedule..... It's very light at the beginning. In the first 7 games we get to face Colt McCoy twice, Blaine Gabbert and the Bratkowski offense, RGIII (hopefully before he has mastered the NFL), and David Garrard's corpse. We probably have to win 6 of our first 8 like we did last season if we stand a chance at the playoffs. The stretch run is brutal - The best we can hope for is a Michael Vick injury, a Tony Romo collapse, and some Norv Turner mismanagement.

I was shocked by this...... I thought for sure they would want that drama in primetime.

BTW -- I'm thinking about throwing some trash on Palmer's hotel room door when he's here in Cincy. It's time to welcome him home.

yea

not just Palmer, but Hue Jackson against his old team as well.. that's a great storyline

I figured they'd schedule it early in the season and for primetime since there's a chance neither team is headed to the postseason. a 5-10 vs an 8-7 matchup won't have the sizzle no matter how into the game the fans will be..

edit- I could see both teams not wanting to make a spectacle of it and opting for the regular timeslot

I'm not all that shocked. Palmer is a has been. The Bengals barely made the playoffs and the Raiders didn't at all. I don't think people outside of Cincinnati give much of a crap about Palmer vs his old team.

I expect him to have a strong season this yr. I wouldnt be shocked if he throws for over 4000 yds and 30 tds..

as far as the storyline, it would make for pretty compelling TV regardless of whether or not he's respected as a player

I don't see it outside of Cincinnati. Why should fans in other places care? How is it compelling?

A player refusing to play for a team, getting traded for multiple high picks, and then going back to his old stadium to get booed for 3 plus hour..

take Palmer being the player in question out of the equation.. that alone is going to make it a much more interestin matchup

I just don't see it. To the NFL it's a matchup of two teams that may not be in the playoff chase, therefore, not nationally important.

I agree. Plus, there are still a lot of talking heads that think very highly of Palmer. Heck, how many other guys are currently being traded for a 1st and 2nd rounder? You just don't see it given the new value of draft picks (with the favorable salaries for rookies).

The Sunday night game that week is Packers/Giants..Huge game and the Monday night game is Panthers/Eagles or Newton/Vick. Much more likely to be an entertaining, viewer-drawing game.
